🥨 Oktoberfest Comes to Sunnybrae! 🥨

Today we enjoyed a wonderful Oktoberfest celebration, complete with traditional Bavarian dress and an authentic Bavarian menu prepared by our very own Bavarian manager (with plenty of help from the team of course! 😊).

The feast included pork roast, dumplings, spätzle and red cabbage, followed by a delicious Black Forest gateau, with pancake soup to start the meal.

There was lots of smiles, great conversation and very full stomachs all round. It was lovely to bring a little bit of Bavaria to Sunnybrae and share some traditional food and culture with everyone.

🎳 Sunnybrae Hits the Lanes! 🎳

Our Sunnybrae tenants enjoyed a fantastic afternoon out at Lanes last Friday for a game of ten-pin bowling, and it is safe to say that a great time was had by all!

A special congratulations goes to Jean, who bowled her way to victory and took the top spot! 🏆👏

We would also like to extend a huge thank you to the team at Lanes. They couldn't have been more accommodating, welcoming or supportive throughout our visit. They went above and beyond to ensure everyone had a good experience.

Thank you for helping us create such a memorable day. We are already looking forward to our next visit! 🎳💙

🤠💗 Well, hello Dolly! 💗🤠

What an absolutely brilliant afternoon we’ve had at Sunnybrae today with our Dolly Party.
A huge thank you to Joanna Shearer and her family for coming along to play and sing Dolly Parton songs for us. You were fantastic and really made the afternoon so special!

And as if that wasn’t enough… we even had a surprise visit from Dolly herself 👱‍♀️😂 The reaction from our tenants was priceless!

We kept the Dolly theme going with Dolly Partini cocktails, plenty of music, and a game of Guess the Dolly!

A massive thank you to Joanna and her family, our Lindsay for being such a brilliant sport, and our amazing staff who helped make today happen 🤠

I am delighted to share our latest Care Inspectorate report.

I would like to say a huge thank you to our amazing staff team, the people we support, their families, friends, other professionals we work with, and everyone who continues to support us at Sunnybrae. This report reflects the dedication, compassion and hard work that goes into supporting our people every day.

What makes me most proud is the people behind the report. Our focus is always on helping people live fulfilling, independent and meaningful lives, and it is wonderful to see this recognised.

Whilst we are proud of the positive feedback, we know there is always more to learn and improve upon. We remain committed to making Sunnybrae the very best it can be.

Thank you to everyone who has played a part in this achievement. Your support, trust and encouragement mean a great deal to us all.

We had an absolutely brilliant afternoon at Sunnybrae today, thanks to the very talented Square Wheels.

It’s wonderful to see young local musicians keeping Orkney’s traditional music alive – and doing such a fantastic job of it too! 👏👏

A slightly belated but very big thank you to the young riders from the Riding of the Marches who came along to visit us at Sunnybrae earlier this month! ❤️

The annual visit from the horses is always a firm favourite with our tenants, and this year was no exception. There were plenty of smiles, chats and, of course, lots of attention for the four-legged visitors!

We absolutely love being included in this wonderful Orkney tradition, and it means a great deal to our tenants that the riders take the time to stop by and see us.

Thank you to all the young riders (and their beautiful horses!) for making our day that little bit more special. We hope to see you all again next year! 🐴

🌙 NIGHT OWL? WE’VE GOT A GREAT OPPORTUNITY AT SUNNYBRAE!

We currently have a 37-hour Night Social Care Assistant post available at Sunnybrae – and it comes with a 33% night working allowance on top of the basic salary and Distant Island Allowance! 🙌

If you are looking for a role where no two shifts are quite the same, this could be for you. Sunnybrae is a busy, interesting and varied service with a lovely team and a genuinely positive working culture.

We’re looking for someone who is kind, reliable, switched on and enjoys working as part of a small night team. Experience in care is great, but having the right values, attitude and willingness to learn is what matters most.

Another brilliant afternoon at Sunnybrae!

A huge thank you to Andrea and Keith from Hrossey Raptors for bringing along their beautiful owls to visit us. Everyone was absolutely in awe of these magnificent, tame birds, and it was such a special experience to be able to see them up close and learn more about them.

We hope to welcome you back to Sunnybrae again in the future!

🍓🍹 Cocktail Afternoon at Sunnybrae! 🍍🌴

What an afternoon we've had at Sunnybrae!

Our staff went all out once again, transforming the lounge into the perfect setting for a fun-filled Cocktail Afternoon.

Our tenants enjoyed freshly made Strawberry Daiquiris, Piña Coladas, and even tried their hand at making their own cocktails and mocktails! We also unveiled our very own Sunnybrae Signature Cocktail, which proved to be a big hit! 🍹✨
The laughter could be heard far and wide as everyone enjoyed each other's company, played games, and rounded off the afternoon with a delicious buffet.
These moments are about so much more than food and drinks – they're about creating opportunities to socialise, trying something different and making our people’s activity requests come to life.

A huge thank you to our amazing staff for their creativity, enthusiasm and dedication in making days like these happen. You really do make Sunnybrae a special place to live. ❤️
