HAPPY DIWALI

Attending the religious event was a really positive and rewarding experience. It was wonderful to see so many members of the community come together in such a welcoming and supportive atmosphere.

The event provided an excellent opportunity to meet people, have meaningful conversations, and strengthen relationships within the community.

Did you spot our teams in this weekend?

What you probably didn’t spot are some of our plain clothes officers – we use a mixture of visible and invisible assets such as dogs, drones and CCTV operators to make sure our deployments remain unpredictable and varied.

As the nights draw in it’s time for marshmallows, hot chocolate and spooky stories.

We thought we’d share some of our favourite local spooky stories and, while we’re unable to offer advice on ghosts and ghouls, we wanted to take this chance to offer some crime prevention tips!

🚲 Community Safety Reminder 🚲

We're encouraging all cyclists to take extra care when securing their bikes, as reports of bike thefts have increased recently.

Simple steps such as using a good-quality lock, securing your bike to a fixed object, and recording the frame number can greatly reduce the risk of theft.

Let's work together to keep our community safe and help protect your property. If you see anything suspicious, please report it to Warwickshire Police

🎃 Halloween Safety Message from Your Local Safer Neighbourhood Team

As Halloween approaches, we want everyone to enjoy the celebrations safely and respectfully.

🧟‍♂️If you're trick-or-treating:
• Children should be accompanied by a responsible adult.
• Only visit homes displaying Halloween decorations or pumpkins.
• Never enter a stranger's house.
• Be visible when out after dark and take care near roads.
• Respect residents who choose not to take part.

Please remember:

• Do not knock on doors of properties that are not participating.
• Do not visit elderly or vulnerable residents unless arranged in advance.
• Throwing eggs, flour, fireworks or causing damage to property is not a prank, it may be a criminal offence.
• Any threatening, intimidating or anti-social behaviour will be dealt with appropriately.

Let's work together to ensure Halloween remains a fun and safe occasion for everyone in our community.

If you witness anti-social behaviour or criminal damage, please report it via 101 or online. Always call 999 in an emergency.

A Leamington man caught shoplifting in town has been handed a five-year Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO), banning him from numerous shops across the county.

Wayne Harvey, 39, appeared before Magistrates in Leamington on 21 October after being caught with £50 of stolen chicken in July.

And he was handed a five-year order, applicable from 21 October banning him from all branches of the following businesses across the county:

B&M Bargains
Sainsburys
Boots
Aldi
Co-op
Savers UK
Marks and Spencer

If Harvey breaches the order he will be arrested.

PC Tom Shorthouse of the Business Crime Team said: “We welcome this CBO, which at five years is the maximum the court can issue.

"These orders are a powerful tool for protecting businesses and our communities from repeat criminiality.

“Shoplifting is repeatedly raised by residents across the county as a key concern and we’re going to carry on taking action on their behalf."

💜 LEAMINGTON LADIES, YOU WERE SOMETHING ELSE TONIGHT! 💜

What an absolutely lovely evening! 🥹

We had such a fantastic turnout for tonight’s that I was so busy chatting to everyone, I completely forgot to take photos of the actual walk! 🤦🏻‍♀️😂
Which is a real shame because seeing all of us women lighting up the pathways alongside the River Leam with our colourful glow sticks was quite a sight!

We also had the wonderful Mayor of Royal Leamington Spa, Councillor Sarah Boad, join us for her very first VAWG walk! 💙

I really enjoyed chatting with Sarah, but what made me smile was how many of you already knew her! It seemed everyone had a story about meeting her somewhere around . She’s clearly a very busy woman who gets herself out and about, and hearing so many lovely stories about her was really rather special. Thank you so much for joining us, I hope you can make another one in the near future. Royal Leamington Spa Town Council

Now, something that really stood out tonight…

So many of you said you wouldn’t normally walk through some of those darker little corners of Leamington alone. Yet tonight, there we all were, walking, chatting, laughing and lighting up those very same paths together. 💜

And it got me thinking.

Yes, better lighting makes an enormous difference to how safe we feel. But so do PEOPLE!

And ladies, that’s exactly what you did tonight! 💜💪
Those dark, quiet pathways were suddenly full of laughter, chatter and colourful glow sticks. Places some of you wouldn’t normally feel comfortable walking through became places we could all enjoy together. And THAT is what we want to see more of!

We finished the evening at the wonderful The Esther Project - Women of Worth where we were treated to tea, cakes and some absolutely gorgeous homemade profiterole cake pops! 🍰

If you don’t know , please look them up. The work they do supporting women in Leamington through homelessness, domestic abuse, addiction and some incredibly difficult times is just phenomenal.

And finally, to every single woman who came tonight, whether you’re one of our lovely regulars or it was your first time…

THANK YOU! 🥹

I’m sorry I didn’t get to chat to everyone, but I genuinely appreciate every one of you.

Tonight wasn’t just a walk. It was women showing up for other women, making new friends and reminding each other that we have every right to enjoy our beautiful town after dark.

And that, ladies, is how we make Leamington better. Together. 💜

Same again next time? I’ll try to remember the photos! 😂🐾 I did manage to get a few lovely photos at the end though… admittedly, all but one were of dogs. 🤦🏻‍♀️😂 In my defence, they were VERY cute, and I make absolutely no apologies for my questionable priorities! 🐾❤

6194, 2496 and the wonderful women making Leamington a little brighter, one walk at a time! 💜✨
