We're constantly looking at how we can better support people to live a life without limits. One of the ways we do that is through our Tenant Housing Forum, where tenants tell us what's working well and where we can do better.

Tenants told us that they want to feel more connected to the communities they live in. They want to know what's happening locally, discover opportunities on their doorstep and feel part of the neighbourhood around them. So we're looking at how we can work more closely with community centres, local groups, employers and businesses to open up more opportunities for our tenants.

We know the best outcomes happen when support extends beyond our services. That's why we're focused on strengthening connections between our tenants and the communities around them.

A bill arriving through the post can feel completely overwhelming.

For Susan, having her Support Worker there to talk things through, break challenges down into manageable steps and support her to find solutions has helped her feel more in control. She doesn't feel like she has to manage everything on her own.

Instead of taking over, her Support Worker works alongside her, helping her understand letters, stay on top of bills, manage appointments and build the confidence to manage her tenancy independently.

Through Connect All, we're also helping more tenants get online and develop their digital skills. This could mean accessing online services, managing finances, searching for employment opportunities, staying connected with family and friends, or simply feeling more confident using technology in everyday life.

Sometimes, it's the small things that help people feel more independent and in control of their lives.

Supported housing helps people get the right support before things reach crisis point.

When you're struggling with your mental health, falling behind on bills, feeling isolated, or finding everyday life overwhelming, it can be hard to know where to turn.

A safe home, practical support and someone in your corner can make all the difference.

Nobody should have to reach breaking point before they get help. But for too many people, support comes when they're already in crisis rather than when they first start struggling. That's why we need more investment in supported housing.

Having the keys to your own front door can feel completely overwhelming.

Megan had never lived alone before. So alongside managing her mental health, she was also learning all the things that come with having your own place, paying bills, doing the laundry, building routines and figuring out how to live independently.

Having her own home, with support around her when she needed it, gave Megan the stability and space to figure things out in her own time.

Now, she's building the future she wants for herself. This is the difference supported housing can make.

That's why we're continuing to develop clear housing pathways that support people as their goals and needs change. Whether someone wants to live more independently, access education, find employment or become more involved in their community, we want to make sure they have opportunities to take those next steps.

Can Jaden guess Paul’s answers?

We asked Jaden, Paul’s Support Worker, to guess some of Paul’s favourite things before asking Paul the same questions to see if their answers matched!

Getting to know someone’s likes, interests and what matters to them is an important part of person-centred support. It helps ensure support is shaped around the individual, respecting their choices, preferences and what’s important to them.

£3.5 billion sounds like a lot, doesn't it? So how does supported housing actually save that kind of money?

Lots of people with complex needs, whether that's a mental health condition, a learning disability, a history of homelessness, or recovering from substance use, don't actually need to be in hospital, residential care or other expensive services. They need a safe home and the right support around them.

When you have the stability of your own home, you're more likely to stay well, build routines, maintain relationships, connect with your community and live independently. You're also less likely to reach crisis point and need more intensive support.

Supported housing helps prevent problems from escalating, reducing pressure on hospitals, homelessness services, social care and other public services.

Housing costs are rising, public services are under pressure, and for many people, getting the right support when they need it can feel harder than ever.

Which is why we need more investment in supported housing.

This week, we'll be sharing more about the difference supported housing makes and why helping people avoid crisis, stay well and live independently benefits us all.

We'll also be sharing some of the ways we're strengthening our services. From working closely with Housing Benefit teams to help people sustain their tenancies during a challenging financial climate, to building stronger partnerships across St Anne's and with local organisations so people can access the support and opportunities available in their communities.

Through Connect All, we're helping more tenants get online, opening up opportunities to access services, stay connected, learn new skills and explore employment opportunities. We're also using systems like Homemaster and Nourish to better understand what's happening across our services, respond to issues more effectively and improve the support we provide.

We're always looking at how we can remove barriers, create opportunities and help people live more independent, fulfilling lives.

We’re recruiting a Care Co-ordinator to join the team at Redwood Glades in Hull.

Great care doesn’t just happen in the moment. It takes planning, organisation and people working together to make sure support is there when it’s needed.

As Care Co-ordinator, you’ll play an important part in making that happen, from planning rotas and coordinating care calls to supporting new referrals and responding to changing care needs.

If you’re organised, a confident communicator and ready to play an important part in the day-to-day delivery of care, we’d love to hear from you.

If you asked ten people what a Life Without Limits looks like, you'd probably get ten different answers. And that's exactly the point!!

For one person, it might mean having a place to call home where they feel safe, settled and comfortable enough to put the kettle on, invite friends round and truly relax at the end of the day.

For someone else, it might mean rebuilding confidence after a difficult time, catching the bus independently for the first time, finding a job they enjoy, joining a local club or getting back into a hobby they'd almost forgotten about.

It could be making new friends, reconnecting with family, volunteering in the community or simply having more choice and control over everyday decisions.

Everybody's version of a good life looks different and everybody deserves the chance to build one that feels right for them.

That's why we take the time to get to know the person. What makes them laugh, what are they proud of, what would they like to do more of or what have they always wanted to try?

When we understand what matters to someone, we can build support around the life they want to live, helping them to do more of the things that bring them purpose, confidence, connection and joy.

That's what we mean by a Life Without Limits!!

Great support starts with getting to know the person behind the support plan.

In this quick Q&A, Jaden, Paul's Support Worker, spoke with him about the things that matter most. From his love of football to supporting Leeds United, the conversation highlights how shared interests can help build meaningful connections.

Paul also shares what he enjoys most about attending TLC, a weekly lunch club where people we support and colleagues from across the Leeds region come together to enjoy activities, share lunch and build friendships.

Jaden also discusses what makes a great Support Worker and the importance of providing support that is tailored to each individual.

At St Anne's, person-centred support is all about listening, understanding and focusing on what matters most to the people we support.

Inspired by the difference great support can make? We're currently recruiting Support Workers to join our Hull DCA team. Find out more via the link in our story highlight.
