A very uplifting afternoon yesterday, delivering Welcome Packs to residents in our new homes, which include a bottle of grape juice and challot. Some very happy and grateful faces, and one with tears of joy that we’ve been able to provide a home for them.

One person who wasn’t in when I delivered the welcome packs said “Hi I was at Leeds Lights so I missed Simon earlier. Thank you very much for the gift basket it’s very kind. I feel really at home in this house and the community is lovely”.

Another said: “Thank you & LJHA for the basket of goodies🥰 very lovely gesture & much appreciated. Very cute shabbat canvas bag and goodies🥰Totally chuffed”.

One couple who aren’t Jewish asked me what the item on the doorpost was. I explained that it was a mezuzah. They told me they can’t thank us enough for everyone we’ve done.

Thank you to Astonish for their generous donation of household cleaning items which form part of the packs.

Thank you to Adam from Palmer Landscapes and Alan from Fruit Works for their help and support before and on the day.

A reminder that there are still places left for the free Blossom Self-Defence and Empowerment session this Thursday 27th August.

The free half-day course is a 50/50 split of theory and physical skills. By end of the course, participants will understand the world in which we live more clearly and be a whole lot better equipped to deal with its challenges. It is for women and girls (over 14s) of all ages – not all of the training is physical, so you benefit from the theory behind the training as well.

This will take place from 1.30pm-4.30pm (with various breaks during the session), taking place at Moortown Baptist Church.
No experience required.

Whether you’re looking to feel more confident in everyday situations or simply want to try something new, Blossom would love to welcome you.

Help LJHA to Make A House A Home Mezuzah Appeal

LJHA is proud to be providing 28 new family homes for our community on Queenshill Avenue and Queenshill Drive.

This marks the second phase of our Queenshill Development, following on from the opening of Cherry Tree House and Hillside in 2022.

We want to always be here for our community and for families to grow and flourish.

We believe all Jewish families need to have access to Jewish life in Leeds and to live in safe, secure and Jewish homes.

That safety and security and footprint of Jewish life is provided by a mezuzah on the doorpost of their home. As we did in 2022, we are appealing to the community to sponsor a mezuzah to make each house a Jewish home.

We hope that you share this vision.

You can learn more and donate at

Sponsor a Mezuzah in one of our new family homes for £100 Your support can help ensure that all of our new family homes can proudly display a kosher mezuzah on the front of their properties and strengthen Jewish identity throughout our community.

Some more photos and an interview with Mark Grandfield, LJHA CEO, following our 'Landlord of the Year' award at last week's Northern Housing Awards.

LJHA won the title based on the judges being “deeply impressed by their commitment to community, inclusivity and tenant wellbeing. Their resident-centred approach, innovative support services and strong partnerships demonstrated a landlord genuinely focused on improving lives and supporting independence across its communities”.
