A big thank you to LEV, local ward councillors, staff and members of the community who came together for a litter pick at Sturdee Road Recreation Ground.👏

Over 30 bags of litter and 10 large items were collected from the park as well as a large fly tip reported to the City Wardens Team, giving the site a much-needed tidy up!

Our LEV team also continued with the tree works to improve sightlines and open up the area.

Thank you to everyone who got involved! 💚

LEV recently headed out on the water aboard Kingfisher to tackle invasive floating pennywort, managing to remove three large patches! 🚤

Pennywort can spread rapidly, forming dense mats that impact water quality and wildlife. As part of our regular waterway management, we utilise our boat fleet to reach those harder to access areas to help keep our waterways healthy.

A fantastic effort from everyone involved! 💚

A huge thank you to Tim for sharing his knowledge, and to The National Forest for funding this fantastic opportunity for staff and volunteers to develop new skills while caring for Leicester’s green spaces.

We’re back in two weeks to put what we’ve learned into practice! 💪
