We are grateful to the Beaumont Running Club for their donation to the Library's funds, given as a thank you to the village for residents’ patience and support during the event.

Go All In for Take 10 to Read and set a new GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ title!

On Thursday 8 October, the National Literacy Trust and the British Council will aim to set a new GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ title for the most people reading online in 12 hours. The record attempt is part of the Take 10 to Read campaign in the National Year of Reading 2026 - and the message is simple: whatever you're into, take 10 to read into it.

Four sessions will run throughout the day for different age groups, including authors, ambassadors, and a dedicated ten-minute reading session. Find out more and sign up to take part by clicking on the picture.

The 2027 Bradgate Park calendar, published by the Bradgate Rotary Club, is on sale at the Library. The calendars have raised many thousands of pounds over the last decade for the Bradgate Park Trust and many Rotary-chosen charities. At a cost of only £8 each, they are available in time to make the perfect Christmas gift for family and friends.

Last call for the Summer Reading Challenge 2026, Read to the Beat, which ends on Saturday 12th September!! If your children haven't yet collected their stickers, medal and certificate, then please head to the library soon!

The Summer Reading Challenge 2026 is 'Read to the Beat', to keep children aged 4 to 12 reading over the school holidays. Read books, get rewards and enjoy a summer filled with stories and sound! We were pleased to welcome our local MP today, whilst the library was taking part in the Markfield village yard sale.

🌞It was a pleasure to visit Markfield Library📖 today, where the local Girl Guide group were hosting a cake sale to raise funds for their pack.

I was delighted to see so many residents turning out to support the girls, and to sample some of the wonderful baking on offer 🧁. Libraries are at the heart of village life, and it was wonderful to see one being put to such good use.

👏🏽A huge well done to the girls and their leaders for all their hard work and thank you to everyone who came along to give their support.

The library is pleased to be part of the village yard sale on Saturday 27th June. Pop by and browse pre-loved books, DVDs and CDs for sale, and pick up some cakes from the Guides' stall. You can also take advantage of the library's extended opening hours, and take a breather from the sales on the benches in our garden!
