The Government has announced their Connect to Work programme, which will see £100 million of government funding being shared in four areas. £38.8 million of this is coming to Lancashire to help get more people back into work.

The aim of the scheme is to help those out of employment as a result of health conditions, disabilities, or complex needs.

The Minister for Employment, Alison McGovern, has said that "this latest funding will make a real difference in the lives of people across the country".

At South Ribble CLP, we are committed to our members and local residents. In 2024, we fought for Change and the Government is delivering on that change for the people of Lancashire. For once, our community is not being left behind, but is being set up for the future with aims of high economic growth!

Labour is delivering better jobs with better job security for people across South Ribble by:

- Ending exploitative zero-hours contracts
- Banning fire and rehire
- Protecting against unfair dismissal
- Making paid parental leave a right from day one

In 2024, the people of South Ribble voted for Change by electing Paul Foster to be their local representative. He stands on the principles that he is the Member of Parliament for all of his constituents not just a select few! That is why this Labour Government's decision to increase worker's rights works for the many and not the few. 🌹

Since July 2024, our Member of Parliament, Paul Foster, has been working to fulfil the promises he was elected on, alongside the Government and other MPs. So much has been achieved in such a short space of time and we can't wait to see what other successes will come in the following years.

Here are just a few examples of achievements made since July:
- Minimum wage boost for 370,000 workers in the North West
- £150 off winter energy bills for 280,000 more families in the North West
- More children to get free school meals
-No more unfair bonuses for water company bosses
- 'No fault' evictions are set to end

All of this, and so much more has been achieved over the last year! 🌹

77 years ago, Labour dedicated ourself to change in the most transformational ways. Today, we look back as a Party and as a nation to remember the amazing achievements that were made, one of which being our National Health Service (NHS).

This week, the Government announced a new 10 Year Health Plan for England to make sure our NHS is always fit for future generations - so all people are cared for "from the cradle, to the grave" with a free at the point of use Health Service. No person chooses to be ill, so we work together to ensure that our society protects theost vulnerable.

The Plan announced will work towards guaranteeing digital consultations within 24-hours, modernising IT systems so more focus can be placed on patients, investment into prevention, and so much more. This is the Change of a Labour Government as it has always been. The NHS created, protected, and renewed under Labour Governments.

These are the principles that we follow at South Ribble Labour (and across the country) to work towards a better, brighter future for all! 🌹

As part of the new industrial strategy, The Labour Government has ensured that costs for thousands of businesses nationally with over 900 being in the North West. Costs will be cut by up to 25% and will unlock billions in investment. Nationally, this will support the creation of 1.1 million new, well-paid jobs over the next decade. 🥳

This is a decisive decision by the Government, which is fully supported by our CLP, that embodies the Plan for Change. A new era of collaboration between Labour and high growth industries to improve the lives of working people! 🌹
