Please join Councillors from Leysdown Parish Council and Eastchurch Parish Council at the next Community Resilience Workshop on Monday 23rd November at 6pm at Meadow Cricket Club in Eastchurch - all are welcome to come along to this important community planning event.
π¨π YOUR COMMUNITY NEEDS YOU! ππ¨
π‘ COULD YOU HELP MAKE EASTCHURCH & LEYSDOWN SAFER, STRONGER AND BETTER PREPARED?
What would happen if our community faced a major emergency tomorrow?
Imagine widespread power cuts, severe flooding, extreme weather, road closures or an emergency that leaves vulnerable residents isolated.
β Would you know what to do?
β Would you know who to contact?
β Would you know how to help your neighbours, particularly those who are elderly, vulnerable or living alone?
This is exactly why our Community Resilience Workshops are so important β and why we need YOU to attend!
π COMMUNITY RESILIENCE WORKSHOP 3 π
π
Monday 23rd November 2026
β° 6.00pm β 8.00pm
π Meadow Cricket Club, rear of 11 & 13 High Street, Shurland, Eastchurch, Sheerness ME12 4BN
π€ WHY SHOULD YOU COME ALONG?
Emergencies can happen without warning, and when they do, it is often local people who are the first to help one another.
Our emergency services and local authorities do an incredible job, but during a major incident, their resources may be stretched. Having a community that knows how to work together could make a real difference.
By attending, you can:
β
Have your say about how Eastchurch and Leysdown should prepare for emergencies.
β
Help protect vulnerable residents by identifying those who might need additional support.
β
Learn practical ways to prepare yourself, your family and your neighbours.
β
Help develop a community action plan so we know what needs doing before, during and after an emergency.
β
Meet local people and build connections that could prove invaluable in a crisis.
β
Find out how you can volunteer or contribute your skills, experience and local knowledge.
β
Help our community recover and get back on its feet following an emergency.
π YOU DONβT NEED ANY SPECIAL TRAINING OR EXPERIENCE!
We are not just looking for emergency responders or experienced volunteers.
We need residents, parents, grandparents, young people, carers, community groups, local businesses and anyone who cares about the future of Eastchurch and Leysdown.
You donβt have to commit to volunteering β simply coming along, sharing your thoughts and listening to others is incredibly valuable.
π¬ WHY DOES YOUR ATTENDANCE MATTER?
Because nobody knows our villages better than the people who live and work here.
You may know someone who lives alone, an area that regularly floods, a family who might need assistance or a local resource that could help in an emergency.
That knowledge could make all the difference.
β€οΈ A strong community isnβt built during an emergency β itβs built beforehand, by people coming together, getting to know one another and making plans.
We want Eastchurch and Leysdown to be communities where nobody feels forgotten, where neighbours look out for each other and where we are prepared to face challenges together.
π’ PLEASE DONβT THINK SOMEONE ELSE WILL DO IT!
We need more local people to get involved. The more voices we hear, the stronger and more effective our community resilience plan will become.
π Everyone is welcome. All ages. All backgrounds. All abilities.

Two hours of your time could help make a lasting difference to the safety and wellbeing of our villages.
π TOGETHER WE CAN MAKE EASTERN SHEPPEY SAFER, STRONGER AND MORE PREPARED.
WE LOOK FORWARD TO SEEING YOU ON MONDAY 23RD NOVEMBER!
