šŸ‘‹ Welcome to our fostering community, Sue and Paul!

We’re delighted to welcome Sue and Paul as new short breaks foster carers. They’ll be providing one weekend a month care to support a child with additional needs — giving families vital breathing space and children positive experiences.

Sue told us - ā€œWe didn’t even know short breaks fostering was a thing — now we can’t wait to get started."

ā€œWe want to give children time, patience and opportunities families might struggle to offer day to day.ā€

Their story shows how fostering can fit around family life while making a real difference.

Foster Care Fortnight starts today šŸ’™

Across Liverpool, we’re celebrating our past present and future foster carers!

This year’s theme, ā€˜This is Fostering’, shines a light on what fostering really looks like — the everyday moments, the challenges, and the life‑changing impact it has on children and young people.

Foster care can provide stability, security and compassion when a child’s world feels uncertain. It can be a turning point — helping them feel safe, supported, and able to thrive.

✨ And the truth is — there’s no such thing as a ā€œtypicalā€ foster carer.

People from all walks of life foster, and there are many ways to get involved, including flexible options like short breaks and part‑time care.

If you’ve ever thought about fostering — this could be your time.

ā€œDon’t pre‑judge what that young person may or may not have been through. Their story might be very different from what you’d expect.ā€

In this Foster 4 podcast episode, we sit down with Chantelle, Manager of The Lighthouse in Warrington, to talk honestly about why children and young people come to live in residential homes — and to challenge the assumptions often made when people hear the words ā€œresidential care.ā€

Sadly, many young people in Liverpool are living in residential homes simply because we don’t have enough foster carers — not because of their behaviour or background.

What children need most isn’t judgement — it’s stability, patience, safety, and someone who believes in them. For some young people, transitioning from residential care into a fostering family can be truly life‑changing, helping them feel secure, valued, and hopeful about their future.

If you’ve ever thought about fostering, this conversation is a powerful place to start.
