Speke Hall Avenue - the road to Liverpool John Lennon Airport

A page to improve and beautify Speke Hall Avenue - for locals and Liverpool John Lennon Airport users. This road is heavily used by people travelling to the airport from wider Liverpool and other regions and it may be all they know and associate with Speke. It is also the first impression of Liverpool for those arriving at and leaving the airport and is the route from the airport to the nearby airport hotels. Locals use the area mainly for dog walking and catching the many buses from the airport to the city centre, school, work etc.

The road currently has a litter problem and could benefit from litter prevention, regular litter picks and bins at bus stops at the very least. A huge litter pick was carried out by the airport staff and Speke Wombles in March 2024 to clear the vast majority of rubbish that has accumulated in hedgerows over several years but the litter problem is ongoing with airport users throwing rubbish out of car windows and bus stop users dropping litter at bus stops on either side of the road.

The idea here is that if Speke Hall Avenue is visibly more cared for there will be a greater chance of users respecting the area.

With some attention and action, Speke Hall Road could be a much prettier gateway to our fantastic City: more trees, blossom, flowers, wildflowers, bus shelters, bins etc. It is a fairly significant green space with lots of hedgerows and the area could be improved for the birds, butterflies, bees, insects, foxes and hedgehogs etc. 🌺 🌳 🦋 🐛 🪲 🦊 🦔 🌱 🌸 🪱 🦇 🐞
