General information

The museum was set up from my interest of street lamps and street furniture in Liverpool Dating back from the Early 1900s up to present day 2013
The collection has fully functional working Gas street lamps Unique to the Liverpool Design as where all street lighting in Liverpool up to the 1970s.
Very few electric lamps were installed pre WW2 but from around 1949 electric lamps where installed city wide starting with single and double bulb tungsten fittings.
then in 1961 a newer energy saving small street lighting was rolled out using Mercury vapour which gave twice the brightness and half the wattage again all to the unique Liverpool city design, we have all these in our collection and fully operational.
