We may not have had the actual drums but we still had the privilege of witnessing the incredible talent, creativity and imagination of our friends from Monifieth High School. Sometimes greatness isn’t about what you have but how you use what is within you. With a little imagination talent will always find a way to shine

There is so much beauty to experience when you visit Jolaurabi. Beyond the classrooms, smiling faces and incredible work happening at our school, there is a whole community waiting to be discovered.

We always encourage our wonderful sponsors and visitors to explore Haller Park, just a few kilometres from the school, where nature and wildlife offer a beautiful experience. We also encourage you to step beyond the comfort of hotels and take time to visit the villages where our children live.

Walk through the community, meet local families, experience our culture, share a meal and discover the everyday realities behind the smiles of our children. These experiences help us understand not just where our children come from but why education, sponsorship and opportunities matter so much.

At Jolaurabi, a visit is more than a trip, it is an opportunity to connect, understand, share, make a difference and a deeper understanding of the lives you are helping to transform.

Because sometimes, the most meaningful part of a journey is not what you see but the people you meet and the stories you carry home

Today, we took our friends from Monifieth High School into the villages to experience the community our children come from and see the realities of the lives they live beyond the school gates. When our sponsors visit Jolaurabi School, they see happy children, beautiful smiles and clean uniforms. But behind those smiles are stories that many people may never know. Every child has a journey, a struggle, a dream and a reason why the opportunity to receive an education means so much.

Sometimes, the smiles we see every day hide the hardships these children face at home. For some, school is more than a place to learn, it is a place of hope, safety, love and the promise of a better future. Walking through these villages and witnessing the level of poverty is heartbreaking, especially when you see families doing their very best with so little. It reminds us why we do what we do, why we keep going and why every child deserves a chance to succeed, regardless of the circumstances they come from.

We shared these realities with our Monifieth friends, not to inspire pity but to help them understand the lives behind the faces they see at school. We want them to see that every sponsorship, every donation and every act of kindness reaches far beyond the classroom. We cannot change every circumstance overnight but together, we can change the story of a child.

Because behind every smile is a story and behind every child is a future worth fighting for.

As we close another school term today, we would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to all our wonderful sponsors, volunteers, teachers and staff for their love, dedication, hard work and continued support.

To our amazing sponsors and well-wishers, thank you for making a difference in the lives of our children. Every sponsorship, donation and act of kindness brings hope, opens doors to education and gives our children the opportunity to dream bigger and build a brighter future. Your generosity means more than words can express, and we are truly grateful to have you walking this journey with us.

To our dedicated teachers and staff, thank you for your patience, commitment and the incredible work you do every day. Your guidance, encouragement and love help our children learn, grow and believe in themselves. You are an essential part of every success story we celebrate.

Together, we are doing more than providing education. We are nurturing potential, creating opportunities, building dreams and changing futures. Every child deserves a chance to learn, grow and achieve their full potential, and together, we are helping make that possible.

As we look forward to another year, we warmly welcome more friends, sponsors, volunteers and well-wishers to join our journey. Every contribution, no matter how big or small, can make a lasting difference in a child’s life.

From all of us at Jolaurabi School and Educate the Kids, thank you for being part of our family. Your kindness, trust and support mean the world to us. We are deeply grateful to everyone who continues to believe in our children and share in our vision for a brighter future.

Thank you for being part of the change. The journey continues and together, we can do even more ❤️🫶🏼❤️

Whenever our sponsors and volunteers visit Kenya, one of the things they are most curious about is our culture, our traditions and of course the food we eat. And what better way to experience Kenyan culture than by preparing and sharing a traditional meal together? Here in Kenya, ugali is more than just a staple food, it is part of our identity, our heritage and our way of life. Often served with sukuma wiki, vegetables, fish or meat, ugali brings families and communities together around the table. Today at Jolaurabi School, we had the pleasure of introducing our visitors to the art of preparing some of our traditional Kenyan dishes. Together, we cooked ugali, sukuma wiki, omena and chicken stew. It was a wonderful opportunity to share our cooking traditions, exchange knowledge and give our visitors a little taste of everyday life in Kenya. Our sponsors come from different parts of the world but when we sit together, share our food, exchange stories and laugh together, we discover that although our cultures may be different, our humanity is the same

What a wonderful and unforgettable day for our Grade 2 children and our dear friends from Monifieth High School, Scotland. Our day was filled with adventure, laughter, excitement and beautiful moments that we will treasure for a long time. From travelling together in matatus and tuk-tuks to exploring City Mall, enjoying its wonderful facilities and doing a little shopping, every moment brought something new to discover. Our adventure continued at the beach, where the children enjoyed the beauty of the ocean, before we walked back together, sharing stories, laughter and experiences along the way.

But behind all the excitement lies something much deeper and more meaningful.

For many of our children, this was their very first time visiting these places. Experiences that some people might take for granted became extraordinary moments of discovery for our little ones. Watching their curiosity, seeing their eyes light up with excitement and hearing their laughter sometimes, the simplest experiences can create the most precious memories.

Today was about so much more than shopping, travelling or visiting the beach. It was about giving them moments to remember, stories to tell and dreams that might grow from a single day of adventure allowing our children to see a world beyond what they already know.
