🏥 SAVE NEW QUAY SURGERY – OUR COMMUNITY NEEDS YOU! 🏥

New Quay Surgery is at risk of closure, and we need EVERYONE in our community to come together to fight for its future!
For generations, New Quay Surgery has been at the heart of our community, caring for local families, supporting our elderly and vulnerable residents, and providing essential healthcare close to home.

With the surgery's future now uncertain, we face the very real possibility of losing a service that thousands of us rely upon.

If we lose our surgery, what will it mean for YOU and YOUR family?

🚗 Travelling further for appointments
Many patients could face significantly longer journeys to see a GP or nurse. For those who don't drive, particularly our elderly and vulnerable residents, unreliable bus services and prohibitively expensive taxi fares could make attending appointments extremely difficult.

👩‍⚕️ Even greater difficulty getting appointments
If approximately 5,000 patients are transferred to neighbouring surgeries, what impact will this have on waiting times and appointment availability? Practices already under pressure could face substantially higher patient-to-clinician ratios, making it even harder for everyone to access the care they need.

🏠 What about home visits?
For patients who are housebound or too unwell to travel, home visits are an essential lifeline. If their GP is based much further away, potentially facing a one-hour round trip to visit a patient in New Quay, how will timely home visits be maintained?

💊 Could we lose our local pharmacy too?
Our pharmacy is another vital part of our community. The loss of the surgery could threaten its future, potentially leaving residents having to travel even further to collect prescriptions and obtain essential medicines.

❤️ Nearly 20 local jobs are at risk
Our surgery is more than a building. It is a team of nearly 20 local people who have cared for us, our children, our parents and our grandparents for years.
These are our friends, neighbours and members of our community. They have been there for us when we needed them, and now they face the uncertainty of potential redundancy.

It's time for us to stand together and show them that we care about their future, just as they have cared about ours.
📢 WHAT CAN WE DO TO SAVE OUR SURGERY?
The Health Board has confirmed that no final decision has been made about the future of New Quay Surgery.

That means NOW is the time for our community to make its voice heard!
We are organising a community campaign to demonstrate just how important our surgery is to New Quay and the surrounding villages.

🗣️ PUBLIC HEARING
There will be a public hearing where everyone will have the opportunity to raise their concerns, share their experiences and explain directly why retaining healthcare services in New Quay is so important.

📱 FACEBOOK CAMPAIGN
We will be running a public campaign on Facebook to bring our community together, share information and encourage as many people as possible to get involved.

✍️ COMMUNITY PETITION
A petition will be organised to collect signatures, public support and personal comments explaining how the closure of New Quay Surgery would affect local residents.
These will be submitted to Hywel Dda University Health Board to demonstrate the strength of feeling within our community.

📰 PRESS AND MEDIA COVERAGE
We will also be contacting the local and wider press to raise awareness of the situation and ensure that the concerns of New Quay residents are heard beyond our immediate community.

❤️ THIS IS YOUR SURGERY. YOUR COMMUNITY. YOUR FUTURE.
We cannot afford to sit back and assume that someone else will fight to protect our local healthcare services.
Whether you are young or old, have a family, care for an elderly relative, or simply value knowing that your local surgery is there when you need it, this affects every single one of us.
We need to demonstrate that New Quay is a community that stands together and that access to local healthcare matters.

PLEASE HELP US BY:
✅ Sharing this post with your friends, family and neighbours.
✅ Encouraging everyone registered with New Quay Surgery to get involved.
✅ Attending the public hearing and making your concerns known.
✅ Signing our petition when it becomes available and adding your personal comments.
✅ Supporting our dedicated surgery staff during this difficult and uncertain time.

The more people who stand together, the stronger our community's voice will be.
We have until March 2027 to make our case for the future of New Quay Surgery. Let's use that time to show just how much our surgery means to us.

PLEASE KEEP OUR PLAY PARK CLEAN AND SAFE ‼️‼️

Llanarth Community Council has received a report of dog fouling has been left inside the children’s play park, including next to the play equipment.

This is completely unacceptable and poses a health risk, particularly to young children using the park.

🐕 Please do not allow dogs into the play area and ensure the gate is kept closed.

If your dog fouls in any public area, please pick it up and dispose of it responsibly.

We ask everyone to please be considerate and help us keep the play park clean, safe and enjoyable for our children.

Thank you for your cooperation.
