A Sifo survey commissioned by the Childhood Foundation shows that 37 percent of all children under the age of 15 have been contacted on the Internet for sexual purposes by someone they believe is an adult. The differences are large when comparing the sexes, where as many as 51 percent of the girls and 18 percent of the boys have been contacted. Have you asked your child?

Is your child ready for their first mobile phone? We think a smart tip is to buy a used mobile, preferably a slightly smaller model that the child can easily handle. Do not forget to supplement with a good mobile cover and a glass cover that protects the screen. from scratches and cracks.

1) Which mobile is best for the child?
Look at three features in particular: the price, size and durability of the mobile phone. For most children and young people, previous models of iPhone or Android are perfect as a first mobile phone. It can be an advantage to have the same type of manufacturer, not least if other family members already use the iPhone, which makes it possible to share photo albums, calendars and location information within the family. In addition, the range of mobile phone cases and other accessories is large.

2) Children's mobile use
Children do not need the latest or most expensive model. Rather, make sure that your child's mobile phone can withstand tough times and handle its most important tasks. Supplement with a tempered glass protection, which protects the screen from scratches and cracks and / or a mobile cover that both protects and gives the child the opportunity to put their personal touch on the phone. A good tip is a wallet shell, which has room for both bus passes and money.

3) Protect your child on the internet
Being active online is always associated with certain risks. It is difficult to control who your child comes in contact with and what type of content he or she encounters. The easiest way to ensure that your child surfs safely and securely is to agree on common rules and a good p**n filter that protects. Which pages are suitable to visit? How to behave on social media? What do you do if a stranger seeks contact? Also keep in mind that the mobile phone can pose a risk in traffic. Remind your child to stop the phone on their way to and from school.

Today, the annual report on the Swedes and the Internet was released.
However, we want to highlight one thing with a focus on the younger ones.
Over 70% of children between 12 and 15 use TikTok and since TikTok has been the subject of discussion, we want to suggest what you as a parent can think of.

1. Enable parental controls on the device. TikTok is intended for users aged 13 and over, and it has an app store age of 12.
2. Set your teen account to private. By default, a TikTok account starts as public - but you can easily activate a private account in the privacy and security settings.
3. Decide who can follow you. Even if your child has a private account, they can manage who follows their account by deleting followers or blocking users and at any time, for any reason. Deleting a follower will restrict the user's ability to send your teen an instant message, while blocking a user will also prevent them from interacting with or viewing the teen's content at all.
4. Limit the content your child sees. At the account level, Restricted Mode activation is an option that limits the appearance of content that may not be suitable for all audiences.
5. Check your comment section. Whether an account is private or public, your teen has the power to decide if they want to allow comments on their videos from anyone, just followers - or restrict them altogether
6. Set message preferences. Your child can detect or block a user to restrict an individual's ability to send a DM or disable messages completely from their privacy settings.
7. Report anything that violates TikTok's guidelines.

Those who hunt and look for children know how to manipulate them, but how do they do it?
Pretends to be someone who is like-minded and the same in terms of age.
They ask for pictures which they then use as leverage to get more pics or clips.
They systematically build trust with the child and then step by step increase the pressure and ask for more inappropriate content.
They are very active and seek contact with several children at the same time to meet someone.

If your child is exposed:
Take screenshots of everything
Block
Report to the police
Report the person to the app or page

And as always, the blame is always on the perpetrator, NEVER anyone else.

Ecpat, a global organization against sexual exploitation of children, has 4 good questions on how to start a good conversation with your child about what happened online.

Has anyone ever asked you or your friends to send n**e photos? How did it feel?

Do you feel you can talk to me or any other adult about what's going on online?

Has anyone you chat with online threatened, harmed or intimidated you in any way?

Have you heard that in chats and games, some adults try to get children to send pictures of them as bodies? What do you think about it?

And remember that the most important thing is not to blame the children when they start telling stories!

Today, children, of all ages, have an obvious presence on the internet. Games, social media and fellowship with friends compete for attention. This of course results in the screen time taking up a lot of space in the children's lives. The new habits can have consequences for the eyes - especially in the younger ones.
Digital eye fatigue is the discomfort we can get in the eyes. The eyes often become tired, red and dry, but you can also experience an overall feeling of tiredness. It is common for you to look worse after staring at a screen for an hour. It often manifests itself as blurred vision, difficulty switching between seeing at different distances and headaches. In younger people, it depends
- Accommodation, the ability of the lens to adapt to different distances,
- Convergence, the ability of the eye muscles to direct the eyes inwards to focus on the same point,

The fact that we concentrate closely for a long time naturally results in our eyes becoming dry and irritated. What actually happens is that our flashing frequency goes down.
Children learn a behavior, they do not realize the problem of screen time as adults often do. In addition, children's eyes are still developing. So remind them to regularly take a break and look up from the screen.
It is also important to think about what time of day we sit in front of the computer or mobile phone. The blue glow from the screens can disturb our sleep.
You can get a disturbance in the circadian rhythm that is affected by the blue light, which makes us sleep worse. Here you can choose to have a screen that changes light in the evening or leave the digital device when it is bedtime.

As per several experts amongst others criminologist Maria Dufva childrens screen time will be all time high end of 2020 into 2021 due to several canceled activities. Unfortuanately with this the risk of children being exposed to harmful adult content increases. Due to online schooling increased screen time will most likely continue far into 2021.

We, two dads who created Guardy, felt that we wanted to make a change and try to find a way to protect our kids from being exposed to adult content, especially now during the pandemic which leads to increased screen time. We took a decision to give our p**n filter with Guardy completely for free to all kids in the UK. This is our way to try to turn around the harmfull development that comes from children being exposed to p**n and other adult content in early years.

THE P**N FILTER
