Hands off Venezuela! Yankee, go home! Down with US imperialism!

Last week it was announced that the Complex, an art studio in Dublin, would be evicted with just over a months notice by yet another greedy developer looking to make a quick buck!

This is just another example of capitalism attacking what little the working class has.

Criminally, it could be saved, but the landlord government of Fianna Fáil and Fine Gael refuse to cough up the funds necessary to save this cultural hub.

Despite FF/FG abandoning the Complex, hundreds of locals came out last night to show their support for the artists at risk of losing their studio.

Only when capitalism is overthrown will culture truly flourish, free from the control of the ruling class, where men and women are once more free to create wonderful works of art. Until then, it will continue to be subject to the whim of the parasites at the top! We must overthrow this rotten system. Once again, the bureaucrats in DCU have changed the rules in order to keep us from setting up a society on campus, despite going above and beyond their requirements every time.

We know why they refuse to let us organise, it’s because they’re scared. They’re scared of the fact that students, organised under the banner of communism can run the school better than they can. College would be run for the real purpose of education, not just so a few parasites can make money.

Despite DCU’s attempts to shut us down, we will continue to hold stalls on campus, we will continue to hold meetings on campus, we will continue to organise amongst the students and workers and we most certainly will win 🚩

This burnt down house, located in a “mature and well established area” is on the market for a whopping €225,000! Once again proving that this government is a government of big business, landlords and bankers.

This housing crisis, which has locked an entire generation of workers out of ever owning a home, is brought to you by Fianna Fáil and Fine Gael. Record homelessness, record inflation and record levels of poverty are becoming the norm. This will only continue under the capitalist system.

In one country after another we see revolutions and mass movements arising against corruption, inequality, austerity and in solidarity with the Palestinian people.

Capitalism is in deep crisis, and the anger of working class and youth is reaching a boiling point – including here in Ireland.
What unites these struggles is a common fight against capitalism and imperialism. But what is imperialism, and how can we fight against it?

Lenin explained in the introduction to his pamphlet Imperialism: the highest stage of capitalism that unless the economic essence of imperialism is studied, “it will be impossible to understand and appraise modern war and modern politics.” This remains as true today as when it was written in 1916.

From the genocide in Gaza, the war in Ukraine, and the continued legacy of the partition of Ireland, to the austerity, corruption and poverty faced by billions, everywhere we trace the bloody fingerprints of imperialism. To end these injustices, we must train up an army of revolutionaries grounded in Marxist theory, who understand where the root of these crises and how we can end them. 

That is why on the 18th of October, communists from every corner of Ireland will gather in Dublin at the Teachers’ Club for a school of anti-imperialism. If you want to join the struggle against imperialism, come along for a day of discussion. Everyone is welcome!

The workers and youth of Ireland shut down the port tunnel today to protest against the interception of the flotillas bringing vital aid to Gaza. The working class organised under the banner of socialism can bring not only the port tunnel down, but the whole rotten capitalist system that allows this genocide to continue. The Italian dock workers have shown us the way, the time to escalate is now! 🚩

In the immortal words of the communist revolutionary Ted Grant “Not a wheel turns, not a phone rings, not a light bulb shines without the kind permission of the working class! Once this enormous power is mobilised, no force on Earth can stop it!”

Revolution Festival 2022 (annual Marxist school of Socialist Appeal - The British section of the IMT) came to a close on Sunday evening.

The Irish Marxists attended alongside 700 Marxists from 14 different countries for a weekend of talks and events.
There is nothing more uplifting than meeting people from around the globe that share our passion for fighting for a better world. The high level of discussion at the various talks over the weekend (as seen on our story highlights) demonstrated the true value of the serious attitude our organization takes to studying political theory.

The shared optimism amongst our comrades was striking. Even though we live in a period of sharp crisis, everyone walked around with smiles on their faces. It is through our study of Marxist theory that we are able to understand the forces at play in this decrepit system and plot the path forwards. This gives us a guiding light in the darkest hour, and fills us with revolutionary optimism.

We are in a critical period of human history. The capitalist system is in an advanced state of decay and with the scale of the crisis, everywhere around the world the working class is being forced to take up the class struggle. A new revolutionary conciousness is emerging within them. Our organisation must be large enough for these concious workers and youth to be able to seek us out and join us in this fight for Socialism.

Therefore we need to build our forces. This means we need you. But, in a period where the rest of the left is in crisis – left reformism has demonstrated its betrayal of the working class at every turn, the sectarians diverge further and further from Marxism due to their lack of patience and foresight – you also need us.
