The folks at Sustainable Hackney will be putting on a screening of the documentary 'The Oil Machine', about our reliance on oil, this Friday at St. Paul's in Stoke Newington (the church where the Farmer's Market takes place outside). A member of Hackney LGND will be meeting Diane Abbott this week to discuss her supporting Power for People's Local Electricity Bill scheme. The Bill would help empower local communities and break the dominance of the Big Six energy companies, at a time when energy costs are going through the roof.

Power for People is pushing to enable community energy groups to sell their locally, rather than everyone relying on the big six energy companies.
