Socialist Appeal Waterloo support the striking tech workers! ✊
Workers at software company Goodlord have been on strike in London since 22 February, in protest at the ‘fire-and-rehire’ tactic the bosses have been using to force employees into taking a 20% pay reduction, as well as cuts to their maternity, holiday and sick pay.
Incredibly, they are attempting to justify this brazen attack on their workers by claiming that, due to the pandemic, people can work from home and therefore don’t need to live in London (meaning they don’t need a London living wage). Never mind that the pandemic will end, or that people already living in London might have many reasons they don’t want to move.
This is a disgrace, plain and simple, and we cannot stand for it. If moves like this are not resisted, they will become the new normal. The Goodlord workers have taken the lead with their commendable strike, and it is vital we show our support. If anyone is interested in joining us on the picket line tomorrow, get in touch and let us know.

Today we remember the revolutionary Fred Hampton, who was murdered by the police on December 4, 1969.
Hampton was a passionate and powerful speaker, with sharp instincts and an organic “feel” for the people, who understood the need to link the struggles of black workers with the broader working class. This idea was too dangerous for the capitalist state, which responded by murdering Hampton in his bed.
But while the state can kill an individual, it cannot kill an idea whose time has come! ✊🚩
