We are currently looking for volunteers to sit on Education Admission Appeal Panels!
We need people like you to sit on school admission appeal panels, these panels ensure an independent, fair hearing for parents who are not satisfied with the school place offered to their child.
If you’re aged 18 or older and can spare a few days a year and want to support your community we would like to hear from you.
You will be contacted by Democratic Services when we need to put an appeal panel together and you can choose to serve as a panelist as few or many times as you like. Admission appeals can take place anytime during the year but they generally occur in May/June/July and September. All appeal hearings take place during the day on weekdays.
The Section also deals with reviews of decisions to exclude pupils from schools. These can take place at any time. We are also looking for people willing to serve on these bodies. If interested please also get in contact with us.
Full training is provided for new members of the panel with refresher training held regularly. Training will be held in late March or early April 2023 and out of pocket expenses are also paid. For an information pack contact democratic Services at Lambeth Council via email [email protected] or telephone 020 7926 2170. To be considered for panels in 2023 you will need to contact us by 20 January 2023.
