League of Arab States- London office This was duly brought to realisation in 1961.
The Council of the League of Arab States passed a resolution on 26th March, 1959, which led to steps being taken to set up an office for the League in London. The main objective of the UK Office is to foster the best possible relationship between the Arab League (the shorter name for the League of Arab States) and the United Kingdom at all levels. The UK Office also acts as a coordinating body, wo
rking in conjunction with Arab embassies to represent the broader Arab interest. The UK Office seeks to implement resolutions adopted by the Arab League at various summits and at ministerial council meetings, related to the Arab stance on issues also relevant to the international community, such as peace and security in the Middle East, and such as broader economic, social, cultural and environmental concerns. As such, the UK office seeks to reflect Arab concerns in connection with the various issues which affect us all as human beings today, as well as to involve the Arab communities in the UK in wide ranging discussions in connection with the role they can play in contributing to the advancement and evolution of their host culture while not losing a sense of their own identity and strong historical roots. It encourages them to integrate in British society, and to be proud, in this integration process, of their own root identity with its diversity of ancestral Arab traditions.
