Diwali Festive Wall Hanging Workshop
Sunday 1st November, 1.30pm - 2.30pm

Celebrate the joy, colour and creativity of Diwali!

Join us on your own, come along with your child, or book a place just for your child.

Adults will create an elegant festive hanging featuring a hand-painted wooden diya, vibrant Indian embroidered fabric, mirrors, beads, bells and tassels.
Children will paint and decorate a colourful elephant-and-lotus toran, then add beads, a bell and tassel to complete their festive creation. Each child will also make a special Diwali card to take home. A joyful, hands-on workshop inspired by the beauty of Indian art and festive traditions.

All materials are included, and no experience is necessary.

This workshop is suitable for adults and children aged 5+

Come along on your own, create alongside your child, or book a place just for your child.

Inspired by the vibrant beauty of traditional Indian mirror work, you’ll paint and decorate a wooden trinket box with colourful patterns, mirrors and sparkling embellishments—creating a unique keepsake to take home and treasure.

Children will also design a colourful Diwali card featuring a handmade diya and sparkling mirror flame.

All materials are included. No experience needed, just bring your imagination!

Put on your spookiest, silliest, sparkliest, or most magical costume and join us for a Halloween celebration full of music, dancing, and fun!

Take to the stage in our Spooky Costume Catwalk and show off your amazing outfit to fellow witches, wizards, ghosts, vampires, dragons, and creatures of all kinds. Then hit the dance floor and enjoy a Halloween party packed with spooky tunes and plenty of opportunities to show off your best monster moves!

Using a variety of spooky and colourful materials, children will design and decorate their broomsticks before putting their imagination to the test and practising their best flying skills.

Tonight, Forty Hall House will be lit up in pink and blue illuminations from dusk until dawn, to show its support for Baby Loss Awareness Week (9-15 October).

Baby Loss Awareness Week is a time for people across the pregnancy and baby loss communities, and beyond, to come together, remember much-loved and missed babies, reflect on experiences of loss in whatever way feels right, and raise awareness of pregnancy and baby loss.

Join us for a relaxing sketching workshop in the magnificent Great Chamber at Forty Hall, where you'll draw from the stunning views framed by the Hall's historic windows.

Led by illustrator and art teacher Annette Agard-Vernon, this friendly and informal session invites participants to slow down, observe, and capture the landscape beyond the glass through a series of simple, guided drawing exercises.

The emphasis is on looking, enjoying the surroundings, and building creative confidence. Whether you're a complete beginner or a more experienced sketcher, this workshop offers a welcoming space to develop your skills and reconnect with your creativity.

No previous drawing experience is needed, and all sketching materials are provided.

Set within one of Forty Hall's most beautiful historic rooms, you'll sketch the trees, gardens, and panoramic views visible from the Great Chamber windows while enjoying the unique atmosphere of the manor house.

If that sounds like your kind of day, why not join us at our Botanical plaster casting workshop?

Join local artist Claire Bevacqua to create a plaster relief tile, taking time to observe the natural world and engage in mindful making.

During this workshop you will:
- Walk in the grounds. Spend mindful time in nature with a small group.
- Press flowers, leaves, bark into clay to create varied textures and impressions.
- Make a mould, mix and cast plaster.
- Create a plaster tile or wall hanging.
- Colour with stain or leave natural.
