📮 We’ve opened an investigation into Royal Mail’s 2025/26 delivery performance after it failed to meet its targets.
Last July, Ofcom modernised Royal Mail's delivery obligations to reflect steep declines in the number of letters being sent. The company has now reached an agreement with the Communication Workers Union to implement the new delivery patterns and expects to complete roll-out of this by Christmas this year.
As demanded by Ofcom, Royal Mail has also set out a plan to significantly improve delivery service - including a commitment to invest £500 million over the next five years.
We expect Royal Mail to begin implementing the improvement plan immediately, and we will continue to hold it to account.

Some of the biggest social media and gaming platforms have committed to new steps to better protect children online.
This includes:
🙅♂️ stronger protections to stop unwanted contact from strangers
🆕 making sure children’s safety is considered upfront before new features are introduced.
But there’s still more to do.
🔴 Nearly 3 in 4 children still see harmful content online
🔴 84% of 8–12s are using services meant for over-13s
We'll be stepping up scrutiny of platforms, and have announced plans to drive further change and hold platforms to account.

💡 Did you know major streaming services like Netflix, Disney+ or Amazon Prime Video don't have to offer the same protections for viewers as TV channels in the UK?
But with new media laws in place, we’ve proposed changes to bring clearer, more consistent protections to the largest streaming platforms - similar to rules for what's shown on TV.
These proposals cover new protections for streaming content on things like:
🔞 Protection of under‑18s
🤕 Harm and offence
🚨 Crime, disorder, hatred and abuse
🗣️ Due impartiality and due accuracy
🤝 Fairness and privacy
The proposals recognise the differences between streaming and TV, and the importance of freedom of expression.
And they're designed to help you feel confident about what you’re watching, whether it's on TV or your favourite streaming service.
