Christmas can be stressful and emotionally challenging, especially for people with dementia and their families. Here are some tips to help you prepare. ๐
๐ฐ๏ธ It can be helpful to try to maintain some normal routines over Christmas.
๐ Vital services like pharmacies, shops and GPs have reduced opening hours over the Christmas period. Planning ahead ensures you have everything you might need.
๐ฏ๏ธ Think about how you can adapt traditions so the person with dementia can continue to participate.
๐ The person with dementia could help with festive preparations, such as wrapping presents, sending cards or putting up decorations.
๐ฝ๏ธ Consider if thereโs any food the person with dementia prefers, and the portion sizes they normally eat.
๐ฌ You could ask a friend or family member to sit with the person with dementia, listen to music or watch your favourite film.

Has your local authority failed to organise your child's transport to school or changed the arrangements?
There are often difficulties at the start of a new school term because the local authority has failed to organise transport to a new school in time, or because changes have been made which mean the new arrangements arenโt suitable.
To help you navigate this, we've put together some information about local authoritiesโ duties to make suitable travel arrangements.
