🎉 Celebrating 40 years of the Oxford Centre for Islamic Studies

The King visited the Oxford Centre for Islamic Studies today, meeting trustees, students, alumni, and interfaith representatives who had gathered to celebrate the centre’s 40th anniversary.

His Majesty has a longstanding relationship with the Centre, serving as Patron since 1993.

The King officially opened the newly renamed King Charles III Wing, which will host the King Charles III Programme, a new initiative which will consolidate key activities including The King Charles III Fellowship, the Young Muslim Leadership Programme, conferences focused on global issues such as the environment and sustainability, and a range of scholarships and visiting fellowships.

Ahead of Her Majesty’s 78th birthday tomorrow, a new picture of The Queen has been released by Buckingham Palace.

The image was taken this month, in the garden at Raymill, Her Majesty’s private home in Wiltshire, by Chris Jackson.

🎖️A huge congratulations to everyone who received their honours from The King at today’s investiture at Windsor Castle.

Amongst recipients were Leona Lewis, who has been awarded an OBE for services to music, and Myleene Klass, who has been awarded an MBE for services to women’s health, miscarriage awareness, and charity.

🇵🇾 The President of the Republic of Paraguay visited The King today at Windsor Castle.

⚓️🌊 The Royal Navy have appointed The Queen as Vice Admiral of the United Kingdom at a ceremony on HMS Astute to mark the end of the Submarine’s first commission.

With the Ship’s Company, The Queen, as Sponsor of the Submarine since 2007, celebrated the service of HMS Astute over the last 15 years - the longest first commission of any Royal Navy Submarine in history.

HMS Astute, the first of her class, is the lead Submarine in the Royal Navy’s fleet of Ship
Submerged Nuclear (SSN) or ‘Attack’ Submarines. They conduct a range of different missions, from intelligence gathering to homeland protection.

The Queen also serves as Sponsor of HMS Prince of Wales, and holds honorary roles as Commodore-in-Chief of the Royal Navy Medical Service and Naval Chaplaincy Services.
