Today marks the last day of term, and what a wonderful start to the school year it has been!

There has already been so much learning taking place across the school. The children have settled beautifully into their new classes, getting to know their teachers and embracing the exciting learning opportunities in their new year groups.

We’ve enjoyed some fantastic books in each class, and the children have already begun exploring their class artists and creating some wonderful pieces of artwork! 🎨

We are so proud of how well the children have settled in and all they have achieved already. We hope everyone has a lovely, restful half-term break filled with fun and happy memories.

We look forward to welcoming everyone back to school on Tuesday 3rd November!

Lopez Class have been busy cooking with Mrs Begum this week, and delicious banana pancakes were on the menu!

The children worked together in table groups to make the batter, taking turns to carry out different jobs and help prepare the mixture. They then cooked their pancakes independently, with an adult supervising to keep everyone safe.

The children were amazed at how tasty their pancakes were, especially as they only needed a few simple ingredients! It was a wonderful opportunity to develop their practical skills, teamwork and independence while discovering how much fun cooking can be.

We love seeing the children enjoying learning new recipes and being adventurous with food!

The Matisse class have been creating fabulous collages inspired by Kente cloth!

The children used colourful strips of paper to create a variety of patterns on black paper, making their vibrant designs really stand out. They explored pattern, colour and contrast to create some eye-catching artwork.

Our final Year 3 assembly saw Kandinsky Class take to the stage, transporting their parents and carers through Parkside’s Year 3 learning journey!

The River Song is rapidly becoming one of our favourites! It’s such a fun and memorable way to help the children remember key facts about rivers.

As always, we were incredibly impressed with the children’s Spanish speaking skills. 🇪🇸 It’s also wonderful for parents and carers to hear first-hand about all the exciting things the children have been learning at school.

A huge well done to Kandinsky Class for sharing their learning so confidently and enthusiastically. We hope you enjoyed the journey as much as we did!

What a treat the whole school had yesterday!

Miss Batley’s Drama Club shared their latest production with the children, and what a fantastic performance it was! The children remembered all their lines, and there was lots and lots of laughter from the audience at all the funny moments.

It was wonderful to see how passionate and proud the children were of what they had achieved. They should be incredibly proud of themselves!

This week, Mrs Plume hosted our Black History Month assembly. She explained to the children why Black History Month is so important and introduced this year’s theme, ‘Honouring Our Community’.

The children then discovered which inspiring individuals each year group will be learning about during their lessons. Some children were already familiar with a few of these personalities, while others were discovering them for the very first time.

It will be wonderful to learn more about the incredible achievements, contributions and stories of these individuals, celebrating the people who have helped shape our world and discovering inspiring figures we may not have learned about before.

Today, Hutchinson Class have been exploring number bonds to 10! They were challenged to find as many different ways as possible to make 9.

Working in pairs, the children took turns challenging each other to find a different combination each time. It was a great way to develop their number skills, practise their mental maths and learn together through teamwork!

In Nursery, the children have been independently selecting resources to play, learn and challenge themselves. They have been exploring a variety of natural textures and creating their own mark through dot painting their name.
As they explore the different learning tables, the children are developing confidence, building friendships, and strengthening their independence. It is wonderful to see them making their own choices discovering new interests and learning through play !

Smits Class had a wonderful treat this afternoon as their class artist, Sarah Smits, came in to visit!

Sarah shared her story with the children, telling them all about herself, how she discovered her passion for art and the development of her own artistic style. She then got straight to work with the children, encouraging them to explore their own creativity and showing them how to experiment with a range of different artistic mediums.

We cannot express how grateful we are to artists who generously give up their time to visit our school and work with the children. These experiences mean so much to our pupils, giving them the opportunity to learn from real artists, discover new skills and, most importantly, feel inspired to follow their own dreams and creative passions.

It was a wonderful afternoon filled with imagination, collaboration and creativity! We hope you enjoy looking through the photos and seeing the fantastic collaborative artwork the children created together.

A huge thank you to Sarah for sharing your time, talent and passion with Smits Class. We are so grateful!
