As a long-standing OPAL school, our children know exactly how to enjoy themselves and make full use of everything we have to offer! Each day, they have the freedom to choose from a wide range of activities, whether that's exploring the digging area, enjoying water play, building and creating, trying out our homemade swings, or discovering something completely new.
At Parkside, we take great pride in providing an engaging lunchtime experience where children have the freedom to be creative, follow their interests, and enjoy meaningful outdoor learning through play. Our dedicated midday team love watching the children's imaginations come to life as they explore, collaborate, and invent new games and adventures.
Mrs Brett is often busy sourcing exciting new resources and treasures for the children to enjoy, while Mr Ali is always building, improving, or fixing something to make playtimes even more exciting. Together, they help create a vibrant outdoor environment where every child can thrive, learn, and have fun.
Remember if you like these photos and enjoy how much fun your children are having, we still need your full support and regular donations.

It has been a busy and exciting morning in Nursery! The children have been enjoying a variety of activities, including writing with Mrs Lubbe, creating colourful jellyfish collages with Miss Nicola, completing giant floor puzzles, and engaging in imaginative role play in the home corner.
The children also enjoyed reading The Rainbow Fish with Mrs Tina, drawing pictures, and using maths blocks to match numbers written on the fish. Throughout the morning, the children were happily engaged in their learning and enjoyed spending time with their friends while developing a range of skills through play.

In Literacy, Ryder Class have been learning how to write complex sentences that begin with a main clause followed by a subordinate clause.
Ms Den Bak wrote a variety of sentences for the children to analyse and challenged them to decide whether each sentence was correct. The children carefully considered whether the clauses were in the right order, whether the grammar was accurate, and how the sentences could be improved.
Through discussion and collaborative thinking, the children demonstrated a growing understanding of sentence structure and grammatical accuracy. They worked hard to explain their reasoning and suggest improvements, developing both their writing skills and confidence in using complex sentences.

Llenas class have been working hard in Maths today. The children have been using Maths blocks to explore and describe position and direction. They practised identifying which colours were above, below, next to, and between other blocks, using mathematical language to explain their thinking.
The children then changed the layout of the blocks to create new positional relationships and discussed how these changes affected their answers.
Mrs Millan later challenged the children with a sequence of shapes and a series of questions about their positions. Working collaboratively in pairs, the children carefully examined the sequence, discussed their ideas, and worked together to find all the answers. It was wonderful to see such excellent teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills throughout the lesson.

A lovely way to end the week for Bradley Class, who have been making vegetable fajitas. The children worked brilliantly together, sharing all the jobs involved in the recipe and taking turns to complete each task before helping with the cooking. This colourful and delicious recipe is easy to make and offers plenty of variations for the children to try at home with their families. Well done, Bradley Class!
