Chinese Proficiency Test UK Committee

The Center for Language Education and Cooperation (CLEC) is launched under the Ministry of Education to better facilitate Chinese language teaching overseas.

The CLEC is a non-profit professional educational institution for international Chinese language education, dedicated to providing high-quality service for people of all countries to learn Chinese and understand China, and serve as a platform for friendly collaboration on language education and cross-cultural learning in the world.

The CLEC will build an international Chinese language education resource system, set international Chinese language education standards and coordinate their implementation; support the training of international Chinese language teachers, provision of learning resources, development of curricula and facilitate relevant disciplines and academic research; host certification tests for teachers and students such as CTCSOL and HSK series; organize international Chinese language exchanges and cooperation programs; and so forth.

CLEC will adhere to the philosophy of openness, inclusiveness, respect and trust, and strive to help Chinese learners from all over the world. In particular, the Center hopes to continue to strengthen cooperation with relevant institutions to build a new model of language exchange that is more focused, pragmatic, and efficient, and contribute to the promotion of people-to-people exchange and mutual understanding.

Chinese Proficiency Test UK Committee is the coordinator of Chinese proficiency tests in the UK, dedicated to the development and promotion of the tests in the country. Apart from organizing the New Chinese Proficiency Tests (New HSK), New Youth Chinese Test (New YCT) and Business Chinese Tests (BCT) each year on a regular basis, the Committee also helps set up sub-test centres and delivers the tests to the schools and organizations needed across the country. In 2011, the Committee successfully initiated the large scale YCT tests in primary and secondary schools in the UK.
