🎓🔬 "Yesterday, a group of Year 12 girls had the exciting opportunity to visit University College London and take part in a STEM conference. The day included inspiring lectures from Professors of Physics, Maths, and the Built Environment, as well as a tour of the Archaeology labs. Students thoroughly enjoyed learning about the courses on offer and discovering how multidisciplinary subjects can bring together their interests, alongside hearing about the many opportunities UCL provides for Sixth Form students!" ~ Ms Vincent

🌧️🌿 "While taking shelter from an unexpected downpour in Springfield Park, one of our staff members found more than just cover, they found connection. This beautifully crafted youth shelter, blending wood and steel, was designed to frame the park in all its seasons while offering a welcoming space to pause and connect with nature. Even more special, it was created by a talented SJBC student who won a design competition back in 2021. A reminder that great ideas don’t just stay on paper, they become part of our communities." ~ Mrs Boucher

🎓✨ "The Train to Teach Open Morning and School Taster Session welcomed more attendees than ever before, a fantastic sign for the future of teaching in London. It was especially encouraging to see so many career changers in the room, showing that it is never too late to step into a rewarding and meaningful profession. Attendees experienced lesson observations at SJBC before learning more about the SJBC / Xavier Teach SouthEast programme, dedicated to training the next generation of secondary school teachers." ~ Mrs Boucher

🎓💬 “David Brighton spoke about the Bank of England and shared insights into his career journey. He explained that he previously worked in the bank’s legal department after studying Law at university, and now works in senior governance.
He also spoke about monetary policy and explained why inflation rates are important. Nicol in Year 12 reflected on how interesting it was to learn that maintaining a stable inflation rate of around 2–3% helps encourage spending and supports the economy.” ~ Ms Vincent

🫀🔬 “This week, Year 9 students in Science took part in a practical heart dissection lesson using lamb hearts to deepen their understanding of the circulatory system. Students carefully identified key parts of the heart, including the aorta, vena cava, atria, ventricles, valves and pulmonary vessels, applying the knowledge they have been developing in lessons. Ms Ahmad was extremely impressed with the maturity, focus and professionalism shown by the class throughout the activity.” ~ Ms Twarog

Last week, our Year 7 students enjoyed a truly special day.
They joined schools from across London for the inspiring Good Shepherd Mass at St George’s Cathedral, reflecting on how we can live out God’s word each day.
The experience continued with a fascinating visit to the Imperial War Museum — a perfect mix of faith, learning, and discovery.
A joyful and memorable day for our students!

Last week, Year 10 and 12 students at St John Bosco College attended an inspiring Bosco Discovery Talk with Arron Maddix, Michelin-trained chef and founder of Moi Moi Sauce, now stocked in Selfridges.
Arron spoke openly about his journey—from professional kitchens to building a successful brand from scratch—highlighting the importance of resilience, creativity, and self-belief.
His message was clear: believe in yourself, take risks, and pursue your passions with determination.
It was a truly inspiring talk, offering students valuable insight into entrepreneurship, resilience and success.

Last week, we were proud to host our inspiring Base Art Show, “What Shapes Us…”, celebrating the creativity and individuality of our students.
Exploring themes of childhood, memory, and identity, students created thoughtful pieces using pixel art and playful forms - showing how memories are colourful, fragmented, and deeply personal.
The exhibition also celebrated neurodiversity and the unique ways our young people experience the world. We were especially proud of the confidence they showed in sharing their work.
A big thank you to everyone involved.
