Please join us at this protest on Thursday 5th February.

Solidarity with the Uyghur people!
Down with the authoritarian CCP regime!
For workers' rights, democracy and political freedom across China and its occupied territories!

Join Us to Honour the Victims of the Ghulja Massacre

On 5th February, we gather to remember the lives lost in the Ghulja Massacre of 5th February 1997 when a demonstration by thousands of Uyghurs in the city of Ghulja was met with deadly force by the Chinese state. At least 100 protesters were massacred for protesting against repression of their culture and freedom. In the days afterwards, thousands were arrested, hundreds of whom were imprisoned, abused or executed.

We will remember those whose lives were brutally cut short and we will demand freedom, democracy, human rights and self-determination for the Uyghur people!

Trade unionist Lee Cheuk-yan, human rights lawyer Chow Hang-tung and democratic politician Albert Ho are charged with inciting subversion under Beijing’s “National Security Law” for protests and vigils upholding the memory of the Tiananmen Square massacre and the 1989 democracy movement.

Against authoritarianism rising in Hong Kong and worldwide, join our protest, led by trade unionists in solidarity with our comrades:
- Free Lee Cheuk-yan, Chow Hang-tung, Albert Ho and all political prisoners!
- Freedom of association, rights to protest and organise unions and political opposition in Hong Kong, China and around the world!

Yesterday, we joined with Stop Uyghur Genocide , UK Uyghur Community , Uyghur Solidarity Campaign and others to demand freedom for 48 Uyghur men currently imprisoned in Thailand simply because they crossed borders from China into Thailand. The imprisoned Uyghur men were fleeing persecution by the Chinese state, which is pressuring Thailand to repatriate them to China.

We demanded of Thailand that it must deny this request and instead give the 48 Uyghur men their freedom. Deportation to China would mean many more years of incarceration in Chinese prisons, forced labour or even ex*****on. Thailand must not sign their death warrants by deporting them.

As well as being victims of the CCP, the Uyghur men are victims of a regime of managing migration which brutally tramples on human rights - locking people up and then deporting them simply for crossing borders without the official documentation (which is impossible to obtain).

We demand that this brutality ends - everywhere! In Thailand, in China, in the USA, here in the UK and in every other country:
Brick by brick, wall by wall, detention centres have to fall!

🚨Emergency protest: don't deport Uyghur refugees to China!🚨

6pm tomorrow Friday 17 January at the Embassy of Thailand, 29-30 Queen's Gate, South Kensington, London SW7 5JB

48 Uyghur refugees have been detained in Bangkok, Thailand for the past 11 years under inhumane and overcrowded conditions. They are now at risk of deportation to China, where they would be at risk of the worst forms of abuse. Stand up to demand: stop the deportations, free them now!

On 19 November, 45 defendants in the trial of the Hong Kong 47 democratic activists were sentenced to years in prison. Among them: 6 years 9 months for socialist former opposition lawmaker Leung Kwok-hung, and nurse and former trade union leader Winnie Yu; and 4 years 5 months for aviation worker and trade union leader Carol Ng. They were convicted under Beijing’s tyrannical “National Security Law” simply for organising to demand democracy.

Democracy and freedom to organise are as vital as oxygen for our movement. On 30 November, join our trade unionists’ demonstration to support our sentenced comrades and all those fighting for democratic and workers’ movements in Hong Kong:

Free Carol Ng, Winnie Yu, Leung Kwok-hung and all the HK47 - quash their convictions!

Free Lee Cheuk-yan, Chow Hang-tung and all Hongkongers repressed for pro-worker and pro-democracy activity!

Free political prisoners in mainland China including feminist Sophia Huang Xueqin, workers’ rights activist Wang Jianbing, civil rights activist Xu Zhiyong, and Uyghur intellectuals Rahile Dawut, Ilham Tohti and Perhat Tursun!

Freedom to organise independent trade unions and political opposition in Hong Kong & China!
