A special Iftar dinner hosted by the Embassy of Somaliland to the United Kingdom brought together representatives of the Embassies of Somaliland and Israel, underscoring the growing strength of ties between the two nations.

The gathering provided a meaningful opportunity to share in a cherished tradition observed by Muslims around the world, including in Israel, and to celebrate the values of hospitality, generosity, and reflection that define this month.

The Iftar dinner served not only as a cultural and religious observance, but also as a moment to reaffirm the importance of religious tolerance, peaceful coexistence, and underscores the significance of strong partnerships and cooperation in these turbulent times.

Since Israel’s recognition of Somaliland in December 2025, ties between the two nations have continued to deepen, driven by a shared commitment to fostering closer diplomatic, economic, and cultural connections.

Daniela Grudsky-Ekstein, Chargé d’Affaires of the Embassy of Israel in the United Kingdom, was honoured to accept the invitation and deeply appreciated the friendship extended by Ambassador Said Hassan Bihi.

On 29 January 2026, the officials of the Embassy of the Republic of Somaliland in the United Kingdom paid a courtesy visit to the Embassy of the State of Israel in the United Kingdom, where they were warmly received.

Representing the Republic of Somaliland, the delegation conveyed its sincere appreciation to the State of Israel for the renewed recognition of the Republic of Somaliland on 26 December 2026.

Following cordial exchanges and introductions, the delegation provided a comprehensive briefing on the Republic of Somaliland, highlighting its rich historical heritage and the abundant natural resources with which it is endowed.

The officials of the Embassy of the State of Israel expressed their gratitude for the visit by the Somaliland delegation. The meeting concluded with a shared commitment to strengthening cooperation and fostering mutual collaboration between the two sides.

The Somaliland diaspora met the head of the Somaliland election Commission committee Mr Musa Hassan at Damal restaurant, London, a prominent member of the Somaliland UK Mission representatives, a Somaliland politicians and the active members of the community were engaged and the main discussion involved in a hospitably welcoming the head of the Somaliland election commissioners Mr. Musa Hassan, and a discussion on issue relating to the up coming elections, the community unity and celebrating the Re-recognition of Somaliland by the Israel government

The Somaliland UK Mission warmly welcomed H E Michael, a long standing friend and advocate of Somaliland diaspora in Cardiff and has multiple visits to Somaliland during his career in politics in cooperation with various parties and government administration in Somaliland.

An extremely important Convention held in West London last night 28.09.2025.
Amongst the Somaliland in UK & Commonwealth, Somaliland member of Parliament delegation, a councillors from some of London boroughs, UK Somaliland Diaspora members, Somaliland Sociaty UK, West London Somaliland Community and a large number of the Somaliland art and culture communities and the Somaliland TV UK branch.
During the session, the Somaliland UK Mission representatives HE Mr said H Bihi and Mr Mohamed M Carab firmly address the crowds aimed to achieve a greater goals for Somaliland determination and Socioeconomic Development for the livelihood of all and encouraged the Somaliland Diasporas to actively participate in the issues concerning their respective countries, UK and RSL. A member of community leader also expressed their commitment, catering, traditional Music and Dance performer.
The UK Mission expressing an unwavering respect and gratitude to each and every one organised and attended the event.

The Head of the Somaliland UK Mission HE Said Hassan Bihi along with the trade and investment counsellor Mr Mohamed Warsame Boss welcomed the Eurasia policy council (EPC) at the Somaliland UK Office in London today and had a great conversation about the economic diplomacy and investment in various resources available in Somaliland.

Somaliland Strongly Condemns Turkish Interference and Destabilizing Actions

Hargeysa,18 August 2025 –The Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Republic of Somaliland has summoned the General Consul of the Republic of Türkiye in Hargeisa, following reports of a recent engagement in Mogadishu between the Turkish Ambassador and an individual actively involved in hostile actions against Somaliland.

The Government of the Republic of Somaliland considers this act deeply alarming and unacceptable, as it undermines the principle of non-interference, damages mutual respect between Somaliland and Türkiye, and contributes to further instability in the Horn of Africa.

The Government of the Republic of Somaliland demands a formal and urgent explanation from the Government of Türkiye and affirms that Somaliland will not tolerate actions that compromise its sovereignty, security, or national interests.
