Last night our Cubs brought along their bikes for a hands-on cycle maintenance session—and what a brilliant evening it was!
They learned essential skills to keep their bikes safe and road-ready, from basic checks and troubleshooting to fixing common issues. The highlight for many was learning how to repair a puncture—an invaluable skill for any young cyclist!

🌲🔥 Cubs Back to Basics Camp! 🔥🌲
This weekend our Cubs headed off for their Back to Basics Camp, where they got stuck into a brilliant weekend of outdoor skills, adventure and plenty of fun in the forest! 🏕️
They learnt how to light fires safely, cooked their own pitta pizzas, built shelters using natural materials and then put them to the test with buckets of water! 💦 They also toasted s’mores over the fire and even had a go at making fire-baked bread. 🍕🍫🍞
The adventure was topped off with a night-time treasure hunt 🔦🗺️ and hours of free play in the forest — a fantastic weekend of fun, friendship and proper back-to-basics Scouting! ⚜️

🌷💐 Mother’s Day Crafts at Cubs! 💐🌷
With Mother’s Day just around the corner, the Cubs were busy tonight getting creative making cards, carnations and special coupons ready to give to someone important in their lives. ✂️🎨
Our Explorer Young Leaders did a brilliant job leading the activity, teaching everyone how to make beautiful origami tulips 🌷 — a flower that will last forever.
We know families come in all shapes and sizes, so these gifts might be heading to a mum, nan, carer, or another special mother-figure who means a lot to them. 💖
A lovely evening full of creativity and thoughtful gifts! 🐺👏

Last night at Cubs we took a trip through history and identity! 🛡️🌍
The Cubs started the evening learning about different coats of arms from around the world and what the symbols and colours represent. We explored examples from different countries, as well as closer to home – looking at the history and symbols linked to Walthamstow and Essex, and discovering how local history has shaped the places we live today. 🏰📜
With plenty of inspiration, each Six then set about designing their own coat of arms to represent their team. There were some fantastic ideas, with shields filled with creative symbols, colours, animals and mottos that reflected teamwork, bravery, friendship and fun. 🎨🦁🛡️
Once the Cubs had finished their designs, we took their creations and let AI have a go at digitising them – turning their hand-drawn shields into polished digital coat of arms. The Cubs loved seeing how their ideas were brought to life on screen! 💻✨ We even asked the AI to design a brand new coat of arms for our Scout Group, inspired by our history and what Scouting means to us today. ⚜️
To round off the evening, we also looked back at the history of our Scout Group, learning how Scouting here has grown and changed over the years. The Cubs enjoyed seeing how things have developed over time and how they are now part of that ongoing story. 📖
A brilliant evening full of creativity, history, technology and teamwork – well done Cubs! 👏
