DOMESTIC ABUSE | Support
16-19 year olds are the group most likely to suffer abuse from a partner. 12.7% of women and 6.2 % of men in this age group suffer abuse, compared to 7% of women and 5% of men in older groups.
Does your partner isolate you from your friends?
Do they monitor how you spend your time, or keep track of what you do online?
Do they put you down, or involve you in criminal activities?
Do they threaten to publish or share your private information or intimate photos?
These are all signs of Coercive Control.
This is DOMESTIC ABUSE.
It is an act, or a pattern of acts, of assault, threats, humiliation and intimidation that abusers use to harm, punish or frighten survivors. It doesn’t relate to a single incident, it is a purposeful pattern of behaviour.

Officers from the South Area Proactive Tasking Team have successfully apprehended a 68-year-old male fugitive who had been evading authorities for 14 years.
The individual was wanted in connection to offences of being unlawfully at large, non-payment of fines and a Recall to prison. Gary Lingham, previously from St Paul's Cray, Orpington was sentenced to 18 years imprisonment in July 1998 after being convicted of importing 40 Kgs of co***ne and cannabis. Lingham was released from prison in August 2008 after serving 10 years. His parole licence was revoked in September 2011 after he failed to comply with conditions, attend appointments with his probation officer and live at his approved address. Since then he has been on the run believed to be hiding out in Spain and Portugal.
He was located and arrested without incident (Thursday 15th May 2025) in Lincolnshire by South Area officers, assisted by officers from Lincolnshire Constabulary. He has been returned to Prison.
The arrest follows a coordinated and long-running investigation. Dedicated officers using Intelligence-led policing were instrumental in tracking down Lingham, who Police believe had recently returned to the UK under an assumed identity.
This arrest marks the end of a long and determined effort to bring a wanted individual to justice and It demonstrates our commitment to ensuring that no matter how long it takes, we will pursue those who attempt to avoid justice.
Original press appeal from 2011.
