Dear Friends,

I am writing to you today to inform you that our community project Citywood Services is under threat of eviction, so that our landlords can sell this public land on to private property developers. We had originally signed a lease for 100 years and now in the harshest of winters, we are being evicted. Citywood Services is located in Tower Hamlets, and is a self initiated and community inspired project. It was set up in 2008 to transform a disused car park which had fallen to illegal fly tipping and dumping ground, into a beneficial space for the community. The site is located right in the heart of a vibrant and multi-cultural residential community which deserved better than the neglected wasteland and lack of amenity space. We had the vision to clean up this parcel of land to create a safer, healthier and creative environment for the local community to benefit from. Over the years we developed our own organic community allotment project and art workshops through the creative reuse of recycled timber and bringing trees back into our lives.
Citywood is an environmentally friendly company and is East London's only supplier of recycled and reclaimed timber, as well as green timber. We make furniture, planters, and have been involved in community garden projects. Over the years we have supported many organisations, charities and communities which aimed to better the quality of lives of the local community, senior citizens, students, individuals with special needs and have provided agency and creative consultancy to artists, artisans, architects and other enablers of society.
With zero help from the local authorities, we have invested our time, money and resources to create a safe and creative environment to serve our community. We need your help to save Citywood. Please sign the petition and circulate among friends and family.
