On Monday the children made some delicious cheese and chive biscuits. Cooking activities are not just about the end product-lots of lovely learning is also taking place! Firstly practising good hygiene as everyone washes their hands before they beginβœ‹
Engaging in cutting the chives with safety knives, mixing and rolling the dough, helps to develop fine motor muscles and dexterity. Measuring the ingredients involves mathematical concepts such as more and less and recognising numbers on the scales. When the ingredients are combined and then cooked, the children learn about changing states. There are also lots of opportunities to develop new vocabulary, to listen to and follow instructions and of course, to work together πŸ˜ŠπŸ§€πŸ§‘πŸΌβ€πŸ³πŸ‘©πŸ½β€πŸ³
