Join us at NXL for the launch of "Neoliberalism and Urban Regeneration" fresh insights on SE London and community.
Book Launch - Neoliberalism and Urban Regeneration
London is a major global city which attracts a massive influx of capital while concentrating power and wealth in the hands of the few. Meanwhile, many communities suffer housing shortages, poverty and dispossession. How can its diverse communities fight back against exclusionary regeneration projects?
This accessible book tells the story of the Voice4Deptford campaign in Southeast London, which has taken radical democratic and creative action to resist the destructive influence of neoliberalism at the community level. It shows how top-down change is challenged and, together with case studies from across London, offers powerful ways forward for other urban communities globally.
Door open 6.30pm start time 7pm. Finish time will be 8:30 pm followed by book signing and light refreshments.

Great friend of the library Nick has made a huge book donation to us, including many Folio Society editions of Shakespeare's plays, dating from the 50s and 60s, and a complete set of Folio Society Collected Plays. So if you're interested in either or both, come in and make us an offer!

NXL is pleased to announce we've had our stairlift installed! The basement project is still a work in progress, but when we're done with that, everyone will be able to get down to the basement for meetings, interviews, private working or anything else you can think of. Thank you for baring with us, and thank you to the Laughology Fund for very kindly donating the money to NXL to fund this part of the project!

One of our lovely regulars Peter is moving to Weymouth, but before he left he very kindly made a generous donation to the library! We won't embarass him by saying how much but it was wonderful! Thank you Peter! And remember everyone, your friends at NXL are always happy to take donations however small of money, books, CDs and DVDs! Reclaim some space at home and help us to keep NXL open!

We're pleased to announce we've officially opened up our huge basement archive of books, CDs and DVDs! If you would like a browse, come by between 1:30pm and 4:30pm on any Saturday and one of our volunteers will show you down there - it's not as scary as the picture above we promise. We're working on improving access to the basement but currently you will need to be able to navigate the stairs to get there.

We've (thanks Penny!) had an enormous sort-out of our basement fiction archive so searching for a particular author or book is now possible! If there's something specific you're after, feel free to message or email us and we can have a look, or if you're passing anyway, drop in and take a look yourself!
