Appeal following non-recent courier fraud
We are appealing for information to identify a woman officers wish to speak to in connection with a courier fraud in 2024.
Courier fraud is when someone poses as a police officer, or someone from another trusted authority, and convinces their victim to hand over or transfer large sums of money.
Between 15 April and 30 May 2024, a victim from Pershore – who was 89 at the time - was defrauded out of around £40,000 across several incidents after someone impersonated a police officer.
These incidents occurred both in person and over the phone, and the victim was told by the ‘officer’ that they needed their help with an investigation.
We have been working through several lines of enquiry since the fraud was reported and now appealing for information to identify the woman in the image who may have links to London and could help with our enquiries.
If you recognise this person, or have any other information which might help, please call 101 and quote reference number 22/46155/24. Or report information here: https://www.westmercia.police.uk/contact/af/contact-us-forms/provide-more-information-to-be-added-to-a-crime-report/
Alternatively, if you have information but don’t feel comfortable speaking to police, you can speak to the independent charity Crimestoppers. It is 100% anonymous, they never ask your name, and they cannot trace your call or IP address. You can contact them online or by calling 0800 555 111.
