Call for Entries: The Queen’s Commonwealth Writing Competition 2026

The Dominica High Commission is pleased to support the Queen’s Commonwealth Writing Competition 2026. This prestigious international platform celebrates creativity, storytelling, and the voices of young people across the Commonwealth.

🇩🇲The High Commission encourages students, young writers, and creatives from Dominica to submit their entries and ensure that Dominica is proudly represented.

Deadline for submitting entries: 30 April 2026

✨️What’s new this year?

🔸️ Introduction of five regional winners from across the Commonwealth

🔸️Winners will be invited to London for a week of cultural and literary activities

🔸️The programme culminates in a special Award Ceremony at a Royal Palace

This is a great opportunity for young writers to showcase their talent on a global stage, connect with peers from across the Commonwealth, and gain international recognition.🌏

🇩🇲 Dominica Engages at UK Global Health Summit 2026 🌍

Her Excellency Loreen Bannis-Roberts, High Commissioner for the Commonwealth of Dominica to the United Kingdom, attended the UK Global Health Summit 2026 at the Royal College of Physicians under the theme “Shaping Tomorrow’s Health, Together.”

During the Summit, Her Excellency engaged in discussions with key partners, including Global Health Partnerships, the British Caribbean Doctors and Dentists Association, and the Caribbean Nurses and Midwives Association UK, as well as health officials from Saint Lucia.

These engagements reflect Dominica’s continued commitment to strengthening international collaboration in healthcare, supporting the Caribbean diaspora in the UK, and advancing resilient and sustainable health systems.

🇩🇲 Dominica Participates in High-Level Commonwealth and UK–Caribbean Engagements in London

Her Excellency Loreen Bannis-Roberts, High Commissioner for the Commonwealth of Dominica to the United Kingdom, led Dominica’s delegation to a series of high-level international meetings and Commonwealth events held in London this week.

On Sunday, 8 March, the High Commissioner participated in the Commonwealth Foreign Affairs Ministers Meeting, where discussions focused on strengthening economic diplomacy and cooperation across the Commonwealth.

On Monday, 9 March, Her Excellency represented Dominica at Commonwealth Day observances, which began with a Flag-Raising Ceremony hosted by the Speaker of the House of Commons. The day’s programme also included a wreath-laying ceremony at Memorial Gates, the Commonwealth Day Service at Westminster Abbey, and a reception at St James’s Palace in the presence of Their Majesties The King and Queen.

On Tuesday, 10 March 2026, the High Commissioner also led Dominica’s delegation to the UK–Caribbean Forum in London. The Forum serves as an important ministerial platform for engagement between the United Kingdom and the Caribbean, with discussions focusing on trade and investment, climate action, and regional security.

These engagements reflect Dominica’s continued commitment to strengthening partnerships within the Commonwealth and deepening cooperation with the United Kingdom and Caribbean partners.
