72 wildfires hit the UK this year. That is 72 too many.

As climate risks grow, we need real action to protect our natural landscapes and communities before the next blaze starts. The Liberal Democrats are stepping up with a comprehensive strategy to tackle the crisis:

- Wildfire Resilience Plan: Pooling emergency resources across regions to drastically speed up response times when fires break out.
- Automatic Safety Restrictions: Enforcing automatic bans on high-risk activities (like disposable BBQs) during peak drought conditions.
- Wildfire Prevention Fund: Investing directly in nature-based solutions, including peatland rewetting and strategic buffer zones.

Our environments are worth protecting, and proactive prevention is key.

One in three UK job listings are fake - and young job seekers are bearing the brunt of it. From ghost jobs to silent rejections and opaque "competitive salary" listings, the modern hiring system is broken.

The Liberal Democrats are stepping up to fix it. Our latest policy calls for:
- An explicit ban on ghost jobs, backed by strict fines for repeat offenders.
- Full transparency around AI, ATS, and automated hiring tools, because true meritocracy requires human oversight.
- Mandatory rejection notices to end employer ghosting once and for all.
- Required salary disclosures on all job ads—no more guessing games.

It’s time to restore dignity, fairness, and transparency to the job market.

We welcome the Liberal Democrats’ adoption of two new campaign points on artificial intelligence and covert filming, following the Young Liberals Conference in Manchester last month.

The covert filming policy responds to reports of women being recorded without their knowledge using smart glasses and similar devices. It calls for stronger restrictions on covert filming technology, including clearly identifiable recording capabilities, safeguards against concealed or disabled recording indicators, and legal duties on companies to address foreseeable harms.

The AI policy calls for urgent regulation of AI companies, including tested emergency shutdown procedures, mandatory reporting of serious incidents, an Ofcom-enforced regulatory framework, and dedicated GCHQ and NCSC funding to monitor autonomous AI threats.
