Harvest is a time to reflect on the value of sharing what we have, and Shiloh Parish Church brought that message to life through their generous harvest donation to the Welcome Centre.

Their contribution included biscuits, soups, baked beans, tuna, porridge and cooking oil — useful cupboard essentials that help us keep our kitchen stocked and prepare for the everyday needs of our clients.

We are pleased to see the spirit of harvest reaching beyond the church and into the wider community. Donations like these help turn a season of giving into practical support for people experiencing homelessness.

Together, we are Giving Hope to the Homeless.

At the Welcome Centre, support comes in many forms, and the regular contributions from Asif and his family are a wonderful example of how small acts of generosity can have a lasting impact.

Their donations of bottled water, groceries, biscuits, muffins, fresh fruit and crisps help us provide practical refreshments and essentials for our clients. We are grateful that they continue to think of the Welcome Centre and the people we support.

The Welcome Centre has been working with Feast With Us to support our clients in learning about nutrition and healthy eating through practical cooking sessions. On 21 and 23 September, our second set of sessions covered topics including the Eatwell Guide, carbohydrates, food labels, fats and portion sizes, while clients prepared a variety of healthy meals, including baked aubergines with chickpeas, quinoa salad, stuffed sweet potatoes, chicken or chickpea curry and Shakshuka.

The sessions were a fun and relaxed opportunity to build cooking, food hygiene and teamwork skills, encourage independence and confidence, and bring members of our community together over a healthy meal.

As part of Women’s Rough Sleeping Census Week, our Women’s Group enjoyed a special session at the Welcome Centre on Thursday 24 September. We created a safe and welcoming space for women to enjoy lunch together, including fresh fruit, vegetable crudités and sweet treats, while qualified massage therapist Jennifer-Marie Irving offered relaxing hand and scalp massages. We also decorated plant pots, listened to music and enjoyed time together sharing food, conversation and laughter. 💜🌿

Today, we were delighted to welcome SATSUNG UK org back to the Welcome Centre.

They prepared and served a wonderful meal for our clients, including chickpea curry, rice, roti and cake. What made the visit particularly special was not only the delicious food, but the time, care and hospitality they shared with our clients.

Sharing a meal can create moments of connection, dignity and togetherness — and today was a lovely example of that.

Today, we were pleased to receive another lovely contribution from Asif and Nafisa, who brought water packs, muffins, fresh fruit and crisps for our clients.

It is wonderful to see kindness expressed in such simple but meaningful ways. These refreshments will be enjoyed by our clients and are a thoughtful reminder that people in our community care.

We were delighted to welcome SATSANG UK organization back to the Welcome Centre yesterday, where they took the time to prepare and serve a delicious meal for our clients.

Their wonderful hospitality, care and willingness to spend time with our community made the visit especially meaningful. It is more than just a meal — it is the warmth, respect and human connection that comes with it.
