We're proud to receive the Highly Commended award for 'Driving Virtual Wards and Hospital at Home Through Digital' at the HSJ_Awards , in partnership with West Hertfordshire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust 🏆
Eleanor Isaac, Virtual Hospital Performance Delivery Lead for South West Hertfordshire, said: “Our Virtual Hospital programme in South and West Herts showcases pioneering work delivered through true cross provider collaboration, using digital innovation to safely manage high acuity patients at home.
"By expanding one of our pathways from an Acute Respiratory Infection Virtual Ward into a General Medical model, we have been able to support up to 15 diagnostic cohorts through a single pathway — extending our reach to more patients and increasing access to the service. This has improved flow through the hospital, reduced acute admissions, shortened length of stay, and delivered an outstanding patient experience.
"This work highlights the real potential of integrated care, helping to relieve system pressures while moving care closer to home. It reflects not only the strength of our partnership, but also the cultural shift needed to fully realise the benefits of using digital transformation to move care closer to home for our patients and communities.”

We’re proud to share that CLCH has been successfully assessed by NHS England and awarded Advanced Foundation Trust (AFT) status – a national marker of excellence that recognises strong leadership, high performance and effective governance.
Advanced foundation trust status will give us greater freedom to make strategic and operational decisions, a simpler annual planning process, and more flexibility in how we manage our finances. It also reflects the confidence regulators have in the Trust’s leadership.
James Benson, our Chief Executive Officer, said: “Achieving advanced foundation trust status is a significant moment for CLCH. It recognises the outstanding commitment of staff across all services and teams, our operational grip and our ability to deliver high quality care while maintaining financial balance.”
