Star of the Month: Episode 4 โญ๏ธ

This month, Luca from our Living Collections team is introducing one of the rarest ducks in the world, the Laysan Teal. ๐Ÿฆ†

Native to Hawaii, this critically endangered species was once on the brink of extinction, with just 12 individuals left by 1912. Thanks to ongoing conservation efforts, their population recovered to around 500 birds by the 1950s, but they still remain incredibly vulnerable today.

Watch to learn more about this remarkable little duck and why protecting endangered species matters. ๐Ÿ’š

You can find our Laysan Teal in our Hawaii exhibit, at the beginning of the west route.
