General information

The Friends offer a programme of visits and talks which is both 'about' libraries in general, and the collections of Senate House. There are two annual named lectures, held in the autumn: the Holden lecture which is normally delivered by a Librarian or publisher of a major research collection, and the AGM lecture about a topic in the news. Visits to other libraries are alternated with talks in Senate House. Visits to the Guildhall Library, the Middle Temple, the Library of the Goldsmiths’ Company, the Antiquarian Society, the Wellcome Institute and the National Art Library appeared on recent programmes, as have talks about Terry Pratchett and the SHL Transport collection, and Holden lectures from the Direectors of the Bodleian, the British Library and the University Library in Cambridge. We also have a Book Group in the summer term, open to all.
