Today, 24 February, marks 4 years to the day since Russia launched its illegal full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
Norway stands fully and firmly behind Ukraine. Ukraine is fighting not only for its own survival, but for the very principles that bind us together and which are enshrined in the UN Charter and International Law: sovereignty, freedom, and the rule of law.
Norway has supported Ukraine since Russia’s war began with the invasion of Crimea in 2014. In 2023, Norway launched the largest support effort in Norwegian history for a country at war: The Nansen Support Programme for Ukraine. We have committed to contributing NOK 135 billion in the period 2023-2030. Norway will continue its extensive and long-term support for Ukraine: militarily, financially and with humanitarian efforts.
Europe must do more – in all areas – to ensure Ukraine’s future. We remain unwavering in our resolve that a just and lasting peace can only be achieved on Ukraine’s terms: through strength, not submission.
