1921 (Lewisham) Air Cadets

Yesterday 1921 squadron was invited by ex Mayor of Lewisham Sir Steve Bullock to Lewisham Council's VE80 Flag Raising Ceremonony. A huge congratulations to Cadet Flight Sergeant Okoro and Cadet Corporal Heath as they received their Deputy Lord Lieutenant's Certificates! Following a competitive selection process, FS Okoro and Cpl Heath was chosen by Sir Steve, and was officially appointed yesterday. Sir Steve, who has served Lewisham in various roles ( Including the first directly elected mayor of the London Borough of Lewisham from 2002 to 2018) for over two decades, now takes on Ceremonial duties. Following his retirement as mayor, he was commissioned by the Lord-Lieutenant of Greater London, Sir Kenneth Olisa OBE to serve as the Representative Deputy Lieutenant for Lewisham.

The worshipful Company of Fletchers have enjoyed a longstanding association with 1921 (Lewisham) Squadron of the Air Training Corps, dating back to early 2008. In formal recognition of this enduring relationship, a formal affiliation between the Fletchers and 1921 Squadron was established in December 2016.

On Monday we had the pleasure with our padre of enrolling 10 new cadets into our midst which now brings our total to 61 cadets that are part of the 1921 family!
