Global Partnership Conference 2026: Indonesia Calls for Reform on the International Humanitarian Architecture

Indonesia, as represented by the Deputy Chief of Mission , participated in the Global Partnership Conference in London on 19 - 20 May 2026. The event was co-chaired by the United Kingdom and South Africa and focused on strengthening global partnership to address current challenges in international development and humanitarian fields.

During the Humanitarian Session, Indonesia called for reform on the international humanitarian architecture, based on the principle of "as local as possible, as international as necessary". Indonesia emphasized that locally led and community-based responses are essential for effective humanitarian action. Indonesia also highlighted that local actors and communities are not merely beneficiaries, but first responders and key partners. Indonesia underlined that strengthening localization requires sustained investment in local capacity, access to resources and financing, and stronger partnerships based on trust, complementarity, and shared responsibility.

Indonesia further called that reform efforts must also avoid one-size-fits-all approaches and remain sensitive to mechanisms in many countries that involve complex domestic coordination, budgeting, and accountability processes.

And thatโ€™s a wrap! โœจ

We have officially concluded our exhibition together with , โ€œBatik: Recolouring Traditionโ€ as part of .

Over the past week, we welcomed more than 600 visitors and had the pleasure of meeting and connecting with so many inspiring people from different backgrounds and fields.

It has been an honour to present batik, Indonesiaโ€™s national heritage, as a living and ever-evolving art form here in London. More than a tradition, batik is a form of storytelling, creativity, and identity that continues to grow across generations and cultures. It is for everyone to appreciate, wear, reinterpret, and connect with, and that is why batik will always remain relevant. ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ฉ

Through Lisa Kingโ€™s creations using natural dyes, this exhibition also highlighted the importance of sustainability in fashion and art, showing how tradition and conscious creativity can beautifully go hand in hand.

A massive thank you to for bringing this exhibition to life through her incredible talent, and to everyone who supported us in every way throughout this journey.

We look forward to bringing more Indonesian heritage and culture for you to experience. What should we exhibit next? Drop your suggestions in the comments below ๐Ÿ‘‡
