Join Westminster Students’ Left! Not only gaming, discussion and debate, we also organise film screenings for students.
Welcome to Westminster Students' Left - this is our public face, if you would like to get more involved in events, activities and campaigns please join our Group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/149802245116120 page - www.facebook.com/WestminsterLEFT
WSL is a student organisation fostering critical thinking, discussion, debate and play, having organised debates with top-level academics an
d public speakers on a wide-range of topics from the Eurozone Crisis, Emerging Powers in the Middle East to Competition and Cooperation and Understanding Human Nature. WSL isn’t just concerned with discussion and debate, we organise board game play evenings with our friends at Class Wargames (http://www.classwargames.net/). Last year we showed the Real Social Network and Black Power Mixtape amongst others. WSL has organised and taken part in marches, demonstrations and protests on a range of issues such as the NCAFC Days of Action, Defend the Right to Protest, NUS Demo2012, Save Lewisham Hospital, solidarity actions around the Palestinian occupied territories, and anti-fascism. However, we are a broad left group, welcoming diverse views, and this is represented in our group, aside from protests, games nights, films and talks, Westminster Students’ Left has a regular reading group, of discussion and introduction to critical texts: https://www.facebook.com/groups/280499038745181/280512838743801
The society currently has three elected National Union of Students Officers. The society does not have a leadership, or committee as other societies may, instead decisions in the WSL are made through regular meetings, based on consensual decision making, we have no presidents or vice-presidents, all are responsible to each other and roles are delegated to individuals on a voluntary basis. The Students’ Left society is associated with and has worked closely with other like minded groups across London, such as Class Wargames, SOAS Anti-Cuts, UCL Defend Education, Student Broad Left, National Campaign Against Fees and Cuts, Coalition of Resistance, the Radical Anthropology Group, London Keep Our NHS Public, Save Our Hospitals, UK Uncut, Palestine Solidarity Campaign, Venezuala Solidarity Campaign, Medical Aid For Greece, Greece Solidarity Campaign and others.

After a vote, it is now official NUS policy to pursue the expropriation of the banks and use the money to fund free education and the reintroduction of full living grants. As the leadership are against the passing of the motion it seems that we had better organise things without their input. The National Campaign Against Fees and Cuts have called for a national meeting on this topic on Sunday 15th June. Everyone is welcome and here is a link to the statement that has been released
