𝗕𝗹𝗮𝗰𝗸𝘁𝗵𝗼𝗿𝗻 𝗙𝗮𝗿𝗺 𝗨𝗽𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗲

𝗔 𝟱-𝟰 𝗩𝗼𝘁𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗔𝗻𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗶𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗲 𝗗𝗮𝘁𝗲

Last night, Gravesham Borough Council’s Planning Committee considered application 20250802, Blackthorn Farm, for up to 100 homes off the A227.

This was not a normal final decision by the Committee, because the applicant has appealed against non-determination. The application will now be decided by the Planning Inspectorate.

However, the Committee was asked to agree what position Gravesham Borough Council should take in the appeal.

The officer recommendation was that the Council should support a position that permission would have been granted, subject to conditions, informatives and legal obligations being finalised.

After debate, Members voted 𝟱-𝟰 𝗮𝗴𝗮𝗶𝗻𝘀𝘁 that recommendation.

This matters. It means the Council is not supporting the officer recommendation to defend approval at appeal.

Local scrutiny matters, especially where major applications affect Meopham.

𝗡𝗲𝘅𝘁 𝘄𝗲𝗲𝗸 - 𝗡𝗼𝗿𝘄𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝗟𝗮𝗻𝗲, 𝗠𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗵𝗮𝗺

Another Planning Committee meeting is scheduled for Wednesday 13 May 2026 at 7pm.

Quirky night market to bring creative flair to Kent with music, art and fashion A mixture of artists and designers will all be under one roof as part of a vibrant new night market.

A new community food bank has officially opened in Gravesend, offering vital support to local residents who may otherwise struggle to access traditional services.

The service, located in Windmill Street, was launched by We’ve Got Your Back with a ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by the Mayor of Gravesham, Cllr Jenny Wallace and the Deputy Mayor, Cllr Alison Williams.

It will operate every Wednesday evening from 5pm to 7pm, specifically designed to support individuals and families who are in employment but still facing financial hardship.

By opening outside of standard working hours, the service aims to reach those who are often unable to attend daytime provisions.

Alongside the evening food bank, We’ve Got Your Back also runs a children’s clothing bank from its family support hub at the same location, open every Wednesday from 10am to 12pm.
