Meet our Chevening Alumni of the Month 🤩
Myriame Farah François is an international development and communications professional with extensive experience in public health, gender equity, and community engagement in Haiti.
As a 2018 Chevening Scholar, she pursued an MSc in International Development at the University of Birmingham. Upon completion of her studies, she then returned to Haiti, where she assumed key positions with the World Food Programme and the United Nations Development Programme. In these roles, she led communications and public health engagement initiatives in complex humanitarian contexts, contributing to large-scale programmes in food security, maternal and child health, and the national COVID-19 response. Her work involved close collaboration with government institutions, communities, and international partners to design and implement people-centred strategies, supporting outreach efforts that reached millions of Haitian citizens.
Ms. François holds an MPhil in Multidisciplinary Gender Studies from the University of Cambridge and has been awarded fellowships by the University of Oxford, the Institute of Development Studies (IDS/SSHAP), and the Barcelona Institute for Global Health (ISGlobal). She is currently developing a doctoral research agenda at the intersection of women’s health, environmental precarity, and structural inequalities, with a sustained commitment to Haiti.
Her story is a powerful reminder of the Chevening impact within our community.

Every Easter in Haiti, kites fill the sky. Handmade, colourful, soaring freely above rooftops and hillsides, they have always been Haiti’s most joyful Pâques greeting to the world. A tradition of ingenuity, of lightness, of hope rising.

Earlier this month, Ambassador Anaïse Manuel had the joy of attending Naïka’s concert and meeting her before the show. That night, it did not matter where anyone in the crowd was from. They all knew the words, even the kreyol lyrics.
A powerful reflection of the role Haitian women play in carrying our culture forward. Women who hold language, memory, rhythm, and identity and who continue to shape how Haiti is seen and heard across the world.
Through her voice, Naïka carries that with strength, intention, and grace.
Thank you 🤍

As Women’s Month comes to an end, the Embassy of Haiti in the UK recognizes Monique André, President of the Normalization Committee of the Fédération Haïtienne de Football , for her role not only in strengthening Haitian football, but in shaping its future through transformational leadership. 🇭🇹
At a pivotal moment for Haitian football, she has been instrumental in bringing together top Haitian talent across leagues including here in the United Kingdom. ’s ability to engage and mobilize players has helped reconnect the national team and restore ambition.
Under this renewed direction, Haiti has returned to the global football stage qualifying for the World Cup for the first time in 52 years, a historic milestone that reflects both determination on the field and leadership off it.
Pictured in Toronto alongside two of Haiti’s amazing Premier League Grenadyes, () and (), this moment reflects that work in action.
We salute our two players who represent Haiti week after week in the and continue to answer the call to represent the nation.

Haitian Cinema takes Its place at in London.
Last week, we joined the Rapport Film Festival for a screening of The Box, a film by Haitian filmmaker Jeff Léona. Based in Haiti, Jeff is a storyteller whose work reaches into the depths of human resilience within fractured societies. The screening was made possible through a partnership with Mare Rouge Entertainment.
Rapport Festival is more than a film festival. It is a movement dedicated to redefining the cultural landscape of the UK by elevating African diaspora artistic expression.
As the Embassy of Haiti in the United Kingdom, promoting Haitian art, culture, and talent on the world stage sits at the heart of what we do. Evenings like this are a reminder of the extraordinary creative force that Haiti carries, one that deserves recognition far beyond our borders.
Haitian cinema has so much to offer the world: its stories, its depth, its humanity. We will continue to support and champion the spaces that make that visibility possible.
Next year, we hope to see even more Haitian artists represented.
A special thank you to Vicky Plancher for the kind invitation.

Ambassador Anaïse Manuel recently visited Edinburgh, Scotland to see “Mervella’s Shoe,” a powerful exhibition by Haitian British artist Leilani Taneus Miller.
The installation reconstructs the shoe worn by six year old Mervella Étienne, who carried a hidden letter inside her shoe from Jamaica to Haiti announcing the return from exile of her uncle, President Lysius Salomon. Passed down through generations in the artist’s family, the story reflects the courage, memory, and quiet acts that have shaped Haiti’s history.
Through materials, maps, and storytelling, the work connects Haiti, Jamaica, and Britain, highlighting the deep historical ties that continue to link these cultures.
While in Edinburgh, Ambassador Manuel also met with Dr Peggy Brunache and Dr Rachel Douglas to discuss academic and cultural collaborations that continue to strengthen Haiti’s cultural presence in the United Kingdom.

Ambassador Anaïse Manuel recently reflected on the moment she presented her letters of credence to King Charles III during a conversation on Off The Agenda, hosted by Sir Charles Bowman and Brenda Emmanus OBE in partnership with London Stock Exchange Group and HaysMac.
In the interview, Ambassador Manuel spoke about the evolving relationship between Haiti and the United Kingdom, the role smaller states can play within multilateral institutions, and how cultural diplomacy from art to Haiti’s independence dish Soup Joumou can help reshape global narratives about Haiti.
The clip shared here reflects on what presenting her credentials meant both personally and in representing Haiti at a moment of renewed engagement with international partners.
During Women’s History Month, the Embassy is proud to see Haitian women contributing to and sharping global conversations in diplomacy, culture, and international cooperation.
Thank you to Edwin Danso, Sir Charles Bowman, , and the entire team for the thoughtful conversation and platform.
