There is a wealth of scientific research, showing that being in a forest/wooded area can have a host of health benefits e.g. it can: boost our mood, reduce stress and anxiety, and improve immune system function and sleep.

Forest Bathing+: a mindfulness, nature-based session to relax body & mind 21/04/2025

Bluebells and Blossoms in Beckenham Place Park:
Enjoy them both in bloom while boosting your wellbeing on our next Forest Bathing Session, Sun. 27 April 12.30-2.30. Bluebells thrive in ancient woodlands, which are also the best type of woodland for our wellbeing.

Scientific research shows that forest bathing has benefits for our physical and mental wellbeing (including on our immune, nervous and circulatory systems).

Foreat bathing involves a slow walk of about 1.5 km through the woodland, stopping to do a mix of mindfulness based practices using our senses and ending with a guided relaxation under the canopy of the trees.

Afterwards there are a choice of refreshment options at the Homestead and Mansion Cafes and Farmers Market.

This artwork* caught my eye for more reasons than one.... firstly the novel use of a fallen ash tree instead of canvas and secondly, it was only on taking a slow and detailed look, that I noticed something interesting I probably would otherwise have missed... Did you spot it too? I'm interested to hear...

Forest bathing has a similar effect as we slow down and really engage with our senses, we notice much more than we normally would walking through the woods. And the slowing down is good for bringing our nervous system into balance too.

So if you like the sound of starting your Sunday by slowing down, using mindfulness to connect with your senses and then chilling out to a guided relaxation under the tree canopy, then come join the Forest Bathing session on Sun. 18 Aug 11.30-1.30 at Beckenham Place Park.

Welcome.
In this fast paced and digital age, it can be a welcome break to slow down and spend some time in restorative nature. There is a wealth of scientific research, that shows that being in a forest or wooded area can have a host of health benefits for our mental and physical well-being, e.g. it can: boost our mood, reduce stress and anxiety, and improve immune system function and sleep *.

Forest bathing is one way to do this - the sessions are walking and mindfulness based, using our senses to connect with nature and its healing effects (so no swimwear needed!). The name forest bathing comes from the Japanese term Shinrin Yoku-meaning 'forest bath' bathing in the forest atmosphere, or taking in the forest through our senses.

I run forest bathing sessions in Beckenham Place Park, London, BR3 1SY so if you are interested in giving your well-being a boost over a weekend, why not come along to a session. Or get in touch if you would like to book a small group/private session or a session for your staff as part of a workplace well-being/away day or team building event.
