Following the publication of the EY 2026 Attractiveness European Survey, swipe left to debunk misconceptions about the French economy.
❌Myth No. 1: No one wants to invest in France.
✅Facts: For the seventh year in a row, France has confirmed its position as the leading European destination for foreign investment.
In the short term, 57% of executives surveyed said they are considering investing in France in 2026.
❌Myth No. 2: France is not a good place for innovation.
✅ France is the leading European hub for attracting foreign investment in artificial intelligence, with a 26% increase in projects in one year, while the software, IT services, defence and low-carbon energy sectors are helping drive France’s attractiveness.
❌Myth No. 3: Businesses don’t consider France an economically attractive place.
✅ France is the European country considered most attractive by international executives, cited by 38% of them.
❌Myth No. 4: Only Paris is attractive, not France.
✅ Foreign investment is not concentrated in a few major cities but spread across the country, with four regions in the top 15 attractive regions in Europe. Ile-de-France (Paris region) remains the leading French region with 233 projects, but Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes has a level of job creation that comes close, and Grand Est and Hauts-de-France are both deemed attractive.
Why is France considered attractive?
Well, its main strengths are:
• The size of its market
• Its capacity for innovation
• The quality of its infrastructure
• The availability of low-carbon energy
• The quality of its workforce
So, is France an economically attractive place?
For sure !
