This amazing vent opener.

Fully restored & working.

It’s stamped ‘ELSLEY’S’

Hello

29/08/2024

This is an interesting little vent (despite being fiddly & annoying to dismantle/strip back)

Fully restored and installed by both Leadlighter Lara & Leadlighter Maccah.

Those metal strips attached to the side pieces are sprung. This means when the vent is opened is doesn’t slam into position & can even be held open half way.

Clever little Victorians.

“You wouldn’t happen to have a short stubby 5/16th countersunk brass screw (16TPI) floating around in the bottom of your bag would you?”

“Will this do….?”

Nice.

Dismantling this vent frame/housing

Lead-Lighter Lara dealing with one of the often puzzle-like contraptions.

Breaking it down to its component parts ready for restoration before we even think about putting the leadlight back in.

My obsession with handles continues…

I might pop back to this one tomorrow and ensure all the screws (slots) are actually in line with each other

Look at these ‘copper ties’.
I saved these & kept them to one side when I first took it all apart.
Here they are back in place, I love ‘em.
Easily pleased am I…
