'The current price of red diesel is unsustainable' - UUP MP Robin Swann Calls for Fuel Duty Cut to Support Farmers Amid Rise in Red Diesel Costs

𝗦𝘄𝗮𝗻𝗻 𝗪𝗲𝗹𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘀 𝗗𝗲𝗳𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗜𝗻𝘃𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗮𝘀 𝗕𝗼𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗡𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗻 𝗜𝗿𝗲𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗘𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗼𝗺𝘆 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗦𝗲𝗰𝘂𝗿𝗶𝘁𝘆

Ulster Unionist MP Robin Swann has welcomed a major defence investment, saying it reflects Northern Ireland’s strategic value to the United Kingdom’s national security. Swann, who raised the issue directly with Defence Secretary John Healey MP, pointed to the region’s engineering expertise and capacity to contribute to UK defence.

Robin Swann MP said:

“This investment is a vital commitment to Northern Ireland’s role in our national security. During my discussions with Defence Secretary John Healey MP, I championed our world-class engineering expertise and our strategic capacity to support the United Kingdom’s defence.

“We live in a time of growing global instability where threats are continually evolving. Having a robust defence must be a national priority.

“This investment will be a major boost for our local economy by driving high-skilled job creation and integrating our innovative small businesses into the UK defence supply chain and that is warmly welcomed.”

The passing of the To***co and Vapes Bill is key to having a Smoke Free Generation. I am very pleased this will apply to Northern Ireland and it has been a priority for me since my time as Health Minister, and I have spoken in favour in the Commons.

The Westminster Ulster Unionist Association was pleased to welcome Party Leader Jon Burrows MLA to their meeting in the Houses of Parliament last night.
